Description

Background: Join our dynamic team based in the historic Mayfair neighborhood of East San Jose. Make a difference in the lives of its residents that experience poverty at a daunting rate despite living in the capital of Silicon Valley. Due to the extreme lack of affordable housing, it is not uncommon for entire families to live in one room or in a garage. Most residents work in low wage jobs and are unable to access government aid because of their immigration status. The Amigos de Guadalupe "Posada Project" allows families living in their cars, the ability to legally park their vehicle in assigned areas overnight, while they are in transition and receiving services from Amigos that move families towards safe shelter and self-sufficiency.


Position Summary: The "Posada Project" Housing Manager will lead the delivery of all Amigos programming as it pertains to the "Posada Project". He/She will directly oversee logistics of the project, work with staff and volunteers to assure project goals are being met, and clients are being supported to achieve personal goals. The Housing Manager will ensure that outreach, education, and security measures are met. The Housing Manager will work closely with the Program Manager to meet project collective goals and program plans.

Program Strategy, Execution, and Evaluation (50%)

  1. Lead implementation of "Posada Project" programmatic strategy to achieve concrete program goals
  2. Data tracking and reporting systems in support of program budget
  3. Conduct pre and post program survey
  4. Ensure smooth and meaningful integration of community organizing strategy
  5. Work with County & City staff, and housing & Safe Park advocates to assure best practices are implemented

Case Management (25%)

  1. Conduct pre-screen intake of clients
  2. Create family plan with head of household
  3. Connect families with needed and available community resources. Follow-up with clients and agencies, as appropriate, to document use and success of referral
  4. Input data of clients into agency database
  5. Provide all required documentation in a timely manner, which includes client follow-up, outcome, & evaluation
  6. The overall goal of the position is to enhance the quality of the clients life by moving them out of poverty as defined by the self-sufficiency matrix

External Relationships and Regional Advocacy (25%)

  1. Proactively promote Amigos' Mission & Vision,strategic goals, and community impact amongst partners, allies, and potential allies
  2. Bring together "Posada Project" participants and Amigos' current housing clients, for training and leadership development through "Comite de Pastores"
  3. Create opportunities for participants to work with housing stakeholders in order to find creative solutions to the Silicon Valley housing crisis


Other Functions:

  • Participate in regular staff meetings, staff training programs, and supervisory meetings
  • Adhere to agency policies and procedures
  • Perform any other duties assigned


Minimum Qualification:

  • BA or 3 years working in case management, housing, or public health field
  • Minimum of 2 years working in non-profit setting
  • Knowledge of community resources and counseling
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse individuals and/or families and be culturally sensitive
  • Ability to lift 25lbs
