The Senior Content Producer is responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of the video production process and workflow. This role will coordinate and collaborate with members of the creative, social, editorial, and product teams overseeing the production and editing of video content that will live on the Understood website as well as across all of our social media channels. This role is based in New York and reports directly to the Executive Creative Director.


You’ll be assigning out video projects – both to in-house and freelance resources – as well as conceiving, shooting, directing and editing your own work.You’ll write project SOWs, estimates, and detailed project plans. You’ll manage budgets, timelines, and internal and external resources to produce engaging content on large- and small-scale projects alike.


  • Lead all aspects of the day-to-day production and post-production of digital and social video in both short- and long-form up to and including: scoping, concepting, scheduling, talent, vendor relationships, shooting, editing, light visual effects, and delivery.
  • Oversee a team that will include in-house pre-editors and technicians and outside production companies.
  • Pivots into the roles of Producer, Director, and/or Project Manager from planning to execution for any assigned projects.
  • Partner with creative and editorial in the concepting process to ensure the production and execution of every project is set up for success.
  • Develop the workflows & processes around approving, assigning, executing and editing projects.
  • Coordinate and schedule all aspects of content productions: develop production estimates, lead pre-production meetings, review and approve all production-related invoices, manage post-production from edit through delivery.
  • Manage timelines and budgets to ensure projects are executed on time and within scope.
  • Collaborate with team members from creative, social, editorial, product and analytics to produce smart, powerful work.
  • Stay abreast of trends — being a sponge; absorbing ideas from the internet, TV, social, and every other aspect of daily life.
  • Have an extensive knowledge and insatiable appetite for new platforms, technologies and all other trending topics that are related to the digital and social space.
  • Strong ability to focus and prioritize workload and resources across a dynamic mix of projects and timelines.


  • 5+ years as agency producer with hands-on production and post-production experience
  • Creative agency experience is a plus
  • Requires excellent communications skills with the ability to articulate and present concepts and ideas in a logical manner
  • Experience in producing and editing content specific to the needs and specs for multiple social media platforms including longform video, short form video, gif, etc.
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision, and communicate up, down and laterally to project stakeholders within the agency
  • Proficient in Premiere Pro, After Effects, related post-production tools and basic camera operation
  • Demonstrated skills and expertise in location video production
  • Ability to travel occasionally to assist with select production projects is preferred
  • Takes initiative — doesn’t wait to be told what or how to do something
  • Able to understand/”get” the brand you are working for when solving a problem
  • A passion for education, parenting, and learning and attention issues is a plus
