Position Summary:
Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston’s workforce readiness program, Ready to Work (RTW), equips members in middle and high school, referred to as Junior Fellows and Fellows respectively, with essential skills to prepare them for success in the workforce. Through Ready to Work’s robust paid internship program, Fellows gain real-world experience at some of Boston’s top companies, developing their networks and growing their resumes in the process.
Reporting to the Director of Workforce Readiness, the Youth Employment Manager is a critical position that manages all employer relationships and administrative functions of Ready to Work. Additionally, the Youth Employment Manager will also be responsible for onboarding Fellows for summer and school-year employment as well as providing support to employers. More specifically, the Youth Employment Manager will be responsible for the following:
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with employers in the city of Boston and Chelsea to support Fellows’ placements and career development.
- Oversees the onboarding process for Fellows, including track and organize all onboarding paperwork; act as a liaison with the employer on these needs; work with Fellows to complete their onboarding process.
- Monitor Fellow job performance, attend site visits, and conduct progress checks with supervisors in the workplace.
- Responsible for accurate record-keeping in the RTW database, including all communication with employers and Fellows.
- Implement RTW post-internship survey to employers and Fellows to garner feedback on their experiences.
- Manages the acknowledgment process for RTW, including sending thank you notes and ordering and distributing recognition gifts to employers, volunteers, and others.
- Develop and maintain relationships with members with a focus on support, interaction, and engagement.
- Support the planning and implementation of RTW programming.
- Collaborate with the Director of Workforce Readiness to plan, implement, and assess all RTW-related events, such as career fairs, panels, and the graduation ceremony.
- Collaborate with RTW program staff to develop and implement best practices to recruit participants for internship/employment opportunities.
- Responsible for RTW-related reporting as determined by Director of RTW.
- Grow RTW Alumni Network by supporting Director of Alumni Services with events and outreach.
- Cultivate partnership with BGCB and BCYF - SuccessLink Youth Employment Program
