Summary:

The Communications Coordinator will be an integral part of the communications team, working in close partnership with key internal clients across departments relating to mission delivery, fundraising, leadership, and organizational brand positioning. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated communications project management proficiency and the ability to enforce brand guidelines and adherence to NBTS communications standards. They will be energetic, organized, collegial, and adept at diplomacy. They are someone who thrives on deadlines and a fast-paced environment. They will be comfortable working cross-functionally and engaging with senior leaders across the organization. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all that may be found in positions of this class.)

  • Serve as project manager and coordinate workflow of all communication needs across NBTS, in partnership and alignment with NBTS brand and messaging standards
  • Proof-read across the organization’s communications channels, enforcing brand guidelines and adherence
  • Schedule kickoffs for major communications initiatives ensuring key business units are represented
  • Create workflow processes and update all key stakeholders through regular status reports
  • Create an inbound communications request workflow that is informed by prioritization, resources, and competing deadlines, while working closely with communications department team members to help establish deadlines, expectations, and coordination of work
  • Coordinate external vendors as required under the direction of the Senior Director of Communications
  • Develop “air-traffic control” capabilities based on an understanding of how NBTS communications functions support mission-delivery and fundraising programs
  • Other duties as assigned


Education & Experience:  

Bachelor’s degree required.

2-4 years of nonprofit communications experience required.


Required Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

  • Marketing communications project management experience with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, preferably in a non-profit or fundraising environment. Ability to manage projects cross-functionally without direct reporting relationships
  • Ability to multi-task and manage work within budget and schedule parameters
  • Proficiency at establishing and working with project management tools
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information, diplomacy, tact, and professionalism in actions and appearance
  • Interest in communications and a passion for mission-driven work
  • Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to high-quality work
  • Pro-active and unafraid to ask questions, offer ideas, and develop a way forward
  • Professional, friendly, and enthusiastic demeanor that works well with all team members and thrives in a fast-paced fundraising and mission delivery environment

  • Work performed in an ADA compliant office environment
