TCS Development Director

Position Overview:

TCS has just completed a successful $4.5M Capital Campaign and moved into a spectacular newly renovated space at 353 Nassau Street in Princeton. We are seeking an experienced Development Director to take the organization to the next level of expertise and growth as we navigate a new Strategic Plan to grow and specialize over the next decade and beyond. The Development Director is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s fundraising and marketing functions, including but not limited to, major gift acquisition, planned giving, fundraising events, annual appeals, marketing strategies, and grant writing. In addition, the Development Director will assist the Executive Director, Clinical Director, and TCS Board of Trustees in strategic planning and Campaigns, as relevant. This position has a start date of August 2, 2021.

 Position Scope and Responsibilities:

·        Manage multi-faceted development program that includes individual giving, corporate support, foundation grants, events, and planned giving program

·        Serve as member of Senior Leadership Team with Executive Director, Clinical Director and Director of Finance and Operations

·        In coordination with Executive Director, Clinical Director, Board of Directors, and appropriate consultant(s), participate in strategic planning process and manage major fundraising efforts including Capital Campaigns as relevant

·        Create and implement multi-year plan to identify, cultivate, acquire, and retain donors

·        Coordinate and manage annual fundraising benefit as well as additional cultivation/stewardship events, including periodic wellness and community outreach programs not directly tied to fundraising

·        Plan, coordinate, and manage direct mail, as well as online and special event funding drives

·        Write content and oversee production of TCS’s newsletters and promotional materials, including those not directly involved with fundraising

·        Create development-related content for TCS’s website and utilize social marketing tools

·        Support the work of the Board of Directors and board committees with fundraising

·        Research, write, and manage foundation funding proposals and reports

·        Provide timely and accurate fundraising reports to the Executive Director, Development Committee, and Board of Directors

·        Redesign and regenerate TCS’s Junior Board, a fundraising board of young professionals

·        Manage all aspects of TCS’s development department to ensure appropriate systems and procedures are in place to support fundraising goals

·        Work to create awareness and culture of philanthropy throughout the organization

·        The Development Director serves as a spokesperson and represents the organization at events and activities for donors and prospective supporters

 Experience and Qualifications:

·        A minimum of 7 years professional development experience, with at least 2 in a senior role preferred

·        Attention to detail and a commitment to excellence and success

·        Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

·        A proven track record of success in raising major gifts from individuals and institutions

·        Experience planning, executing and managing events including campaigns

·        Adept at balancing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment

·        Knowledge of and experience with broad-based fundraising and marketing strategies, including direct mail and social media

·        Knowledge and understanding of current fundraising trends and training

·        Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff colleagues, board members, and volunteer leaders

·        Working knowledge of fundraising and marketing software, Raiser’s Edge knowledge a plus

·        Fluency in all Microsoft Office programs

·        Strong desire to be a part of hardworking, self-directed, cohesive team

·        Experience and/or education in a health and/or mental health setting strongly preferred

·        Ability to maintain the highest degree of discretion and confidentiality

·        Ability to maintain poise, diplomacy, and grace under pressure
