Color Of Change is the nation’s largest online racial justice organization. As a national

online force driven by over one million members, we move decision makers in

corporations and government to create a more human and less hostile world for Black

people in America. We activate our members to take action on crucial issues—from

criminal justice to media representations to the social safety net and voter freedom—so

that we can build the power necessary to transform the written and unwritten rules of

society. Our work – both rapid response and long-term campaigns for change –

amplifies the voices of Black folks and our allies, building power and delivering

meaningful wins that create consequences for racial injustice and build momentum for

implementing solutions that move Black people and all people forward.


The Marketing & Storytelling team creates and leads the brand and content strategy

necessary to translate and advance Color Of Change’s values, vision and efforts across a

broad set of national influencers and grassroots activists. Through various platforms and

mediums, the team is responsible for supporting efforts across the organization to

deliver on our main promise: provoking the level and frequency of action from our

members and allies that will force target decision makers to take action, and thereby

achieve real world impact and lasting, systemic change. The team is also responsible for

brand management, strategic content development, content distribution, and high-level

media relations. Central to the Marketing & Storytelling team’s work is Color Of

Change’s Hollywood Culture Project, an initiative designed to change the way Black

people (and the issues we care about) are represented in entertainment media, and to

effectively leverage cultural influencers in support our campaigns.


Candidates must have strong skills in the creation and curation of strategic content,

multi-channel propagation and performance tracking, online engagement, project

management and internal team communication. Our ideal candidates are ready to

onboard swiftly and will work within a multi-disciplinary team of designers, content

creators and campaigners focused on one or more products or projects that engage our

passionate members and audiences in a way that increases interest, connection,

community and strategic action.

These two positions (both Manager of Social Media & Content roles) will report to the

Director of Social Media & Content.

Main Responsibilities

·     Craft, curate, publish and manage social media content focused on everything from creating and writing copy to leading graphic design requests for both rapid response and long-term campaigns.

·     Track and analyze data metrics for performance improvements and weekly KPI reporting.

·     Contribute to and implement digital content and engagement strategy based on organization’s campaign goals and emerging opportunities.

·     Align all content and engagement efforts with the COC brand narrative, personality and tone, while helping to develop a fresh range of voices for different venues and purposes.

·     Consistently deploy content marketing and social media activation best practices, leveraging new and emerging platforms, tools, trends and partnerships.

·     Manage content calendar according to both evergreen and topical cultural, industry and political happenings, opportunities and developments.

·     Assist Director as needed, including and not excluding content process development, the integration of emerging tools and methods throughout the organization.



·     Experience

o  Proven success as a content developer and manager of online and digital

o  campaigns that yield high engagement against measurable analytics

o  Proven excellence activating and engaging new communities, while

o  managing a range of existing communities across social media channels.

o  Experience managing both rapid-development short-term and complex

o  long-term projects.

o  Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, copy editing and organizational

o  skills.

·     Tools and Platforms

o  Experience managing, publishing, and reporting with social media

o  platforms such as Sprout, HootSuite, Sprnklr, Tweetdeck and Falcon iO.

o  Experience using and creating content for gamification and sponsorship

o  driven platforms like WooBox, Splash, OfferPop, Fan Core or Cheerity.

o  Knowledge of meaningful SEO, web traffic and social platform metrics.

o  Working knowledge of HTML, email marketing and web publishing

o  through WordPress.

o  Experience with basic graphic design such as Canva or Illustrator.

o  Stellar organizational and time-management skills, with strong attention

o  to detail and process.

o  Ability to respond successfully under tight deadlines, working some

o  evening and weekend hours as needed.

o  Ability to establish highly productive relationships with a vibrant, diverse,

o  distributed staff.
