Description

The American Bar Foundation (ABF) seeks to hire a full-time Research Social Scientist/Project Manager to coordinate and implement a set of research projects about Asian Americans in the legal profession. The research will include identifying and synthesizing existing data on the legal profession; designing and implementing research proposals; and supervising a team of research assistants to conduct research on several aspects of a new ABF project.


Duties of the Position

The main responsibility for this position is to manage, implement, and analyze research conducted as part of an ABF project, “The Portrait Project 2.0.” The position calls for the ability to coordinate several ongoing projects and meet deadlines; work with legal and academic professionals to finalize project goals, strategies and timelines; and experience with the design, implementation and analysis of survey and other research. The successful candidate will participate in the residential research community of the ABF and have an opportunity to publish research for both an academic and popular audience. The Research Social Scientist will report directly to the project’s co-Principal Investigators. The position can begin immediately and may extend through October 2019 or longer.


Qualifications

  • PhD, ABD, or other demonstration of research and management skills. Experience in data analysis is required.
  • An interest in the legal professions, life course analysis, or law and social science is preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire.
