Office Manager and Conservation Coordinator

SUMMARY

 This position is responsible for managing the Wildlife Law Program Office in Centennial Colorado and assisting Friends of Animals’ staff on Wildlife Conservation Projects. As the administrator, you will assist program attorneys with maintaining the office, managing cases, coordinating meetings and travel, and communicating with clients. As the Conservation Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to work with our conservation partners, coordinate letter writing campaigns, and contribute to the Program’s Right to Ethical Consideration Blog and posts to our social media accounts.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

•      Provide assistance to legal staff in a law office

•      Manage cases including assistance in brief writing, filing, and tracking filing due dates

•      Coordinate appointments, meetings, and business travel

•      Assist in the recruitment process for staff and interns

•      Coordinate meetings, teleconferences, and video conferences/communication with organization’s headquarters in Darien, CT

  • Maintain and update legal organization systems for office library
  • Prepare legal correspondence and presentations
  • Conduct research for report preparation
  • Train attorneys and support staff in the use of all office systems, including case management system, filing protocols, and docket/diary procedures
  • Utilize and maintain case management system for electronic data management of legal files and creation of management reports
  • Ensure that all necessary information is shared between clients and attorneys on various files
  • Coordinate and maintain the acquisition of legal research and reference materials for office, including hard copy and electronic materials
  • Collaborate with organization’s communications/media team/conservation partners
  • Post news content and information about organizational actions to social media as relevant
  • Work on conservation advocacy projects as assigned and as appropriate
  • Maintain the Program’s A Right to Ethical Consideration Blog by researching, synthesizing, and publishing relevant content once per week

QUALIFICATIONS

•    Pursuing or completed a bachelor’s degree (or demonstrated work equivalent)

•    1 plus years of office administration support experience

•    Strong administrative and professional communications skills, including excellent oral and written skills

·      Strong research skills also preferred

•    Sound organization and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

·      Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Egnyte, and Evernote preferred

•    Self-motivated, detail-oriented, takes initiative, is proactive and possesses strong client service focus

•    Ability to maintain highly confidential materials, meet deadlines, and work on multiple projects at once

•    Demonstrated interest in wildlife or environmental matters, as aligned with Friends of Animals’ mission, preferred

HOURS AND PAY

•   35 hours per week with health insurance.

•    $17-$20 per hour starting pay, depending on experience, with potential for bonus

•   Position is permanent and begins in May 2021
