The Intrepid Museum is seeking a highly organized, experienced Staff Accountant to join our finance team. In this role you will assist with the daily accounting and budgeting functions of the Finance department. This position requires a solid understanding of not-for-profit accounting principles and will assist with analyzing financial data and other organizational information to tell the story of our business, including budgets, projections, account reconciliations and financial analysis.

The successful candidate must be diligent in delivering information timely, and be able to interact with all Museum staff to assist in achieving departmental goals and objectives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assists in the preparation of schedules and documentation for the year-end audit and Form 990s.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and forecasting including consolidating and reviewing data received, uploading of approved budgets to financial systems and electronic distribution to staff.
- Prepare and review accounting entries as part of the month and year end closing processes.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts and maintain account analyses.
- Assists with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls.
- Assists with weekly cash flow forecasting
- Ad-hoc projects as requested.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) in Accounting from four-year College or university; and two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a not-for-profit organization preferred. Exemplary computer skills in Excel and Microsoft Office. Ability to work with detailed accounting systems - Netsuite and Adaptive Planning experience preferred. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings on occasion, as may be necessary.
