Core Areas of Knowledge and Skills Required by the After School Program Director

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in leading and managing youth programs.
  • Experience in administrating an after-school program or similar youth development programs,
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently and to work collaboratively.
  • Computer skills proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, Nepali, Indi or Mandarin.

Scope of Work

Under the supervision of the Assistant Executive Director, the After School Program Director will take the lead in providing a safe environment in assessing youth educational needs, shaping program design, and ensuring that the program offers a safe and structural environment for youth. In addition, the After School Program Director will also be responsible for implementing the goals of the program contracts as written. The After School Program Director will be responsible for ensuring that this team receives the supervision, support and training they need to provide a quality service.

Major Functions/ Accountabilities

  • Provide oversight and supervision to all aspects of the After School Program.
  • Collaborate with the Principal and DOE staff to align school and WOTM education objectives.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate all program staff.
  • Manage and maintain program budgets ensuring compliance with the funder and agency requirements.
  • Ensure the program complies with all aspects of Department of Health School Age Child Care (SACC) regulations.
  • Development and compile reports on the availability of education and training programs.
  • Plan, organize and implement community building events for families.
  • Track students to ensure program engagement and attainment of programs outcomes.
  • Plan, manage and host site visits.
  • Attend After School Program Director meetings hosted by the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD).
  • Manage program administrative requirements such as work scope development and reporting schedule to satisfy funder and agency request.
  • Design curriculum for grades K-5.
  • Work collaboratively with all program partners, school administrators, and parent community
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Assistant Executive Director.

Hours: 40 hours per week Monday thru Friday and evenings/Saturdays if necessary.
