Who You Are

CPE is in search of an experienced Development Manager to manage the day-to-day of achieving our fundraising and stewardship goals. Do you get excited about funding non-profit programs that directly support DC-area youth? Do you enjoy using your exceptional organizational and communication skills to make ideas become reality? Are you motivated by collaborating with the people around you? If so, then this is the role for you!

About the Role

The Development Manager works with the CPE Development team to plan, implement, and coordinate effective strategies and processes to identify, cultivate, solicit, and secure annual gifts from individuals and corporations. Specifically, the Development Manager collaborates with the Development Director to set annual fundraising plans and drive annual direct mail and digital fundraising campaigns; manages a portfolio of mid-level prospects including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship; and prepares and reviews fundraising letters, proposals, and other donor collateral. Additionally, the Development Manager oversees CPE’s donor database (Salesforce) and other development team information systems, manages gift processing with the support of the Finance Manager, supports the grants process, and provides support on board management. This position reports to CPE’s Development Director.

Responsibilities

Fundraising and Donor Relations

·      Under the supervision of CPE’s Development Director, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of individual and corporate donors and prospects.

·      Refine and implement a robust stewardship and cultivation plan that ensures all donors are interacted with in a timely and personalized manner.

·      Design and implement CPE’s annual direct mail and digital fundraising campaigns and other appeals, with a focus on increasing CPE’s pool of recurring donors.

·      Produce donor collaterals and other external materials in collaboration with the Communications team to successfully execute fundraising plans.

·      Manage donor stewardship: write and process acknowledgement letters, coordinate thank-you notes, calls, and gifts, and facilitate the integration of student and mentor voices into donor materials.

·      Under the guidance of CPE’s Grants Manager, support the grants management process and execution, including prospecting for new foundations, drafting and managing Letters of Intent (LOIs), and writing and submitting select grant proposals and reports.

·      Plan, coordinate, support, and execute on events (virtual or in person, as allowed) focused on donor cultivation and stewardship.

·      Facilitate collaboration between the Development Team and senior leadership in the creation and execution of the strategic fundraising plan.

·      Support the Development Director and CEO in individual major donor prospecting.

Systems & Project Management

·      Manage the development team’s infrastructure and data systems, specifically Salesforce. This includes:

o  Maintaining updated Salesforce records (e.g., gift plans, gift details, donor/prospect information, and attachments used for proposals).

o  Building out stewardship and cultivation plans into Salesforce, ensuring all donors are tracked and progress can be analyzed at a micro and macro level.

o  Tracking and reporting out on contacts associated with board members.

o  Tracking appeal and event outcomes as they relate to giving and engagement.

o  Aggregating metrics and data to report out to the board.

o  Maintaining the data integrity of all donor and donation information.

·      Oversee gift processing: monitor all sources of online payments (e.g., GiveLively, Amazon Smile), deposit funds received, record information in Salesforce, and establish an efficient reconciliation process with the Finance Manager and CPE’s accountants.

·      Manage the process for drafting acknowledgement and thank-you correspondence, and implement refinements wherever necessary.

·      Work with the CEO and Vice President to ensure that senior leadership is receiving information and progressing through tasks in a timely manner.

·      Other administrative responsibilities as necessary to keep the trains running on time.

Qualifications

·      At least three (3) years of experience working in nonprofit development.

·      Experience working with CRMs, preferably Salesforce.

·      Demonstrated experience in establishing processes to manage data and improve data integrity.

·      Excellent written, analytical, research, problem-solving and organizational skills.

·      Strong organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.

·      Display a collaborative attitude, and demonstrate respect and empathy for people and community.

·      Must embrace the mission of Capital Partners for Education.

·      Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

·      Ability to legally work in the United States without sponsorship.

·      Bachelor’s degree preferred.
