Position Description


The part-time Resident Aide (16 hrs./wk.) provides support and security for the New Broadway Family Shelter and staff coverage during the weekend.


Essential Job Functions


The following duties are mandatory requirements of the job:


q Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of all clients, emergency personnel and visitors.

q Provide hourly inspection of facility and document all on the Daily Activity Log.

q Complete Intake packages and required documentation on new families referred to the facility

q Show new families to their rooms

q Supervise common areas and promote cleanliness, safety and adherence to house rules and regulations.

q Counsel clients needing immediate support and report issues to Program Director.

q Ability to effectively provide crisis intervention and share accurate information with Case Managers and Program Director.

q Complete Incident Reports as required.

q Ability to work effectively with homeless individuals and families.

q Willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.


Other Responsibilities


q Ability to work effectively with homeless families with a family member who may be diagnosed with mental illness or substance abuse disorder.

q Crisis management and de-escalation skills.

Education and Certification

q The minimum requirement for this position is a High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED).

q Security training certificate (optional).

q Fire Safety Certificate (F02) required, F80 preferred


Special Skills and knowledge


q Knowledge of safety practices and standards of the organization.

q Knowledge of OSHA (universal precautions).

q Experience working with diverse populations.

q CPR training preferred.
