Are you an amazing 18-25 year old? If not, do you know one?
At City Year Detroit, 91 highly trained young adults (18-25 years olds), our AmeriCorps members, work full-time in 9 Detroit Pubic Schools for 11 months. They are student success coaches, providing individualized supports to at-risk 3rd-9th graders. We partner with schools and districts to identify students who are at risk of not graduating on time with their peers, and provide them with extra academic, emotional and social support and skills that they need to be successful for college and a career.
City Year Detroit AmeriCorps Members:
Provide one-on-one or group tutoring before, during and after school to help students work through their academic challenges.
Lead energetic morning greetings for the whole school to create more encouraging learning environment.
Run after school clubs and service projects to give students a positive and safe activity to participate in.
Take attendance and call late or absent students to encourage them to come to school.
Make positive phone calls home to fill parents and family in on the progress that's being made.
Organize and lead activities, celebrations and projects to improve the school and community as a whole.
While you are serving with us an AmeriCorps member you will receive $1,260/month living stipend, $5,920 education award, federal student loan forbearance, basic health coverage, City Year uniform and access to $3 million in undergraduate and graduate school scholarships: https://cityyear.site-ym.com/?partners_byprogram

How To Apply
Applicants must be between the ages of 18-25 years old and at least have a high school diploma. Most of our applicants have received their bachelors degree or have attended some college.
You can apply online at www.cityyear.org. We are accepting applications on a rolling basis until all 91 spots are filled. The start date is Monday July 30th or August 13th.
