    Organization Description:

    The National Art Education Foundation (NAEF) invests in innovative initiatives to support instructional practice, research, and leadership in visual arts education. As an independent, philanthropic organization, NAEF has supported 385 individual projects for NAEA members since its inception in 1985.

    A sister organization to the National Art Education Association (NAEA), NAEF helps fund a variety of visual arts education programs for the Association and its members, providing $625,000 for NAEA Initiatives since 2011.

    Job Description Overview 

    Responsible for NAEF Grants Program Management, NAEF Donor Relations and Support, Development, Board Governance Support, and Other Requests as needed.

    Responsible for creating and implementing effective grant management, grant review processes, foundation fundraising strategies, donor solicitation, and overall stewardship. Manages ongoing activities and development operations of National Art Education Foundation to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and impact. 

    Reporting: This role reports to the NAEF Board of Trustees Chair and the NAEA Executive Director (NAEF Secretary/Treasurer).

    Responsibilities: Fundraising and Development

    • Management Plan: Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive and proactive NAEF board management plan focused on accepting, reviewing, and notifying NAEA members about the results of the NAEF reviews annually
    • Fundraising Plan:
      • Support and develop a comprehensive fundraising plan which will provide NAEF with significant contributions, through foundations, corporate/local business, and community channels.
      • Support and implement the fundraising plan, increasing revenue and increasing the number of potential foundation partnerships.
    • Communications: Communicate regularly with the NAEF Board regarding fundraising accomplishments and ongoing needs specific to development activities.
    • Governance Support: Prepare, organize, and manage materials for NAEF Board members, including annual board meeting held at the National Art Education Convention
      • Data and Records Management:Maintain a list of contacts, donors, and potential donors
      • Maintain high-quality stewardship processes for active foundation partners
      • Ensure that stewardship and reporting requirements are met to sustain successful partnerships by maintaining detailed records of solicitation activities.
    • Donors and Fundraising Strategies:
      • Administer all aspects of solicitations
      • Draft follow-up reports as required. 
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities: 

    • Budget management experience
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
    • Excellent interpersonal, service, and communication skills and the ability to successfully work with a variety of stakeholders.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
    • Excellent technology skills
    • Experience with board and grant management

    Qualifications 

    • Relevant Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant experience.
    • Board management experience preferred
    • Excellent relationship management skills (both internal and with external partners) and the ability to maintain highly confidential information.
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Experience with educational research and knowledge of art education K-20 preferred
    • Self-directed with a commitment to meeting goals and deadlines
    • Versatile; able to work at detail and big picture levels
    • Experienced computer and software knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite and other programs and online platforms
    • Experience with data management and organization
