Organization Background

Courage Campaign (501c4 and SuperPAC) and Courage Campaign Institute (501c3) are sister organizations powered by 1.4 million members. Courage Campaign fights for California -- the largest and most diverse state in the nation -- to lead as a progressive engine for the country We organize Californians online and in their communities to demand courage from their leaders in Sacramento and Washington, holding them accountable through legislative advocacy and elections. Working always in partnership with the progressive movement, we build power across issues and beyond election cycles, to win today and for years to come.

Courage Campaign is committed to identifying and supporting consultants who are women and people of color, and building our team to reflect the diversity of California.

Additional information may be found at CourageCampaign.org.

General Scope of Work

Courage Campaign seeks a seasoned political fundraiser with a demonstrated track record in securing funding from California and national donors. Preferably, the consultant will be based in California.

We’re looking for the consultant to lead on raising $300,000 to $400,000 across Courage Campaign’s various committees (c3, c4, PAC) during the remainder of 2018 and early 2019, primarily from major donors new to the organization at the $5,000-$50,000 level.

Our election program is focused on flipping eight House seats from red to blue in California, particularly in districts won by Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. These include Congressional Districts 10 (Denham), 22 (Nunes), 25 (Knight), 39 (Royce), 45 (Walters), 48 (Rohrabacher), 49 (Issa), and 50 (Hunter). More information on our campaign can be found at CaliforniaCounts.com. Additionally, there is potential to raise around our support for the six state legislative candidates that we have endorsed for 2018.

Post-election, our program will focus on holding leaders accountable in California -- especially Democrats -- through CourageScore.org, legislative advocacy and statewide progressive movement-building. We believe that elected leaders should be more representative of and accountable to the people of California.

The consultant would work closely with the executive director and development manager of Courage Campaign, and report to the executive director. Currently, the organization uses Salesforce to manage its donor database. Additionally, Courage Campaign has in place a robust email fundraising program, with which the consultant would not be required to assist.

Courage Campaign is a virtual office, with staff located in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Sacramento. The consultant would be required to travel.
