    The mission of Centinela Youth Services, Inc. (CYS) is to strengthen families and communities by empowering youth to resolve conflicts and overcome obstacles in order to become successful students and contributing adults. CYS is a 501c3 non-profit, restorative justice organization established in 1975. CYS operates a variety of innovative programs proven to increase student performance and reduce school dropout rates, gang involvement, youth violence and crime which ultimately helps preserve families. CYS is leading innovation that is transforming youth justice in LA and the state, with a commitment to both youth development and serving victims of youth crime, while impacting systemic change to end the school to prison pipeline. CYS is also providing leadership to critical juvenile justice reform in LA County and is growing rapidly as a result.

    Compensation

    This is an exempt full-time position, including benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience. All full-time employees are invited to participate in the company’s health benefits package after completing the 60-90-day employment introductory period. Our benefits program includes select health plans and dental plans at 100% cost coverage (for employee only), vision insurance, time off accruals and holiday pay.

    Work location

    This position will split time between remote work and our Inglewood office. This position involves meetings in the field at various locations across Los Angeles County. As well as a full in-office day every other Tuesday.

    Schedule

    This is a full-time position. CYS has the following 9/80 work schedule: Monday – Thursday, 8am – 6pm. Friday, 8am – 5pm, with every other Friday off.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services or a related field and at least five years of experience in a similar setting or the equivalent combination of education/experience.

    Preferred Skills/Experience

    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services or a related field and at least five years of experience in a similar setting or the equivalent combination of education/experience.
    • Training/experience in best practices in Functional Family Therapy (FFT) or Multi Systemic Therapy (MST) or other evidence-based practices in reducing criminogenic risk factors or serving high needs adolescents and their families.
    • LCSW or LMFT preferred.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills -must be able to work well under stress and meet deadlines.
    • Excellent supervision skills and ability to supervise and mentor diversion case managers serving a wide range of client needs.
    • Ability to work in concert with LCSW Consultant for clinical supervision.
    • Experience serving adolescents in a family-centered approach.
    • Excellent problem solving and crisis management skills.
    • Significant staff management experience and use of data/software tools to manage and monitor workflow.
    • Strong friendly advocacy and diplomacy skills with an ability to understand different perspectives to find solution oriented common ground.
    • Track record in leading thriving and successful teams.

    General Functions and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Assistant Program Director, the Diversion Program Supervisor is responsible for quality and maintenance of the CYS’s Diversion program. This position oversees the country’s leading evidence-based Restorative Justice diversion program.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    This position is responsible for building on the quality strategies that CYS has put in place to be one of the nation’s leading juvenile justice diversion programs. These duties include program quality oversight and developing performance monitoring and improvement plans as needed and conduct outreach to partner community service and referring agencies. Ensure Diversion team’s representation at grant meetings, accurate data collection/entry, submitting reports on time, meeting grant objectives for case numbers and quality measures, achieving high client success and satisfaction. Ensure quality of clinical judgements made in case management and support professional development of staff. Other duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Supervision of Diversion Case Managers (6-9 staff)
    • Review and assign cases to Diversion Case Managers
    • Referrals flow monitoring to mitigate capacity concerns
    • Approve staff schedule adjustments to accommodate meetings for families’ availability/schedules
    • Timesheet and mileage reimbursement approvals
    • Case Conference – occurs weekly with team for presentations, brainstorming and sharing perspectives on cases
    • Individual Supervision – occurs weekly for case updates/consultation and performance feedback
    • Review service plans for clinical quality, program fidelity, and contract compliance (i.e. proper document signatures).
    • Approve staff schedule adjustments approvals and notifications to CYS Administration
    • Timesheet and mileage approvals
    • Coordination with LCSW Clinical Consultant for planning professional development and ‘office hours’ case consultation support for the Diversion staff.
    • Staff supervision includes hiring, retention, clear work instructions, ongoing monitor of work quality, conducting regular performance evaluations, developing performance improvement plans, coaching, mentoring, and training.
    • Provide quality assurance for team data entry, case files and data management and reports related to case management: CYS Connect/Salesforce/CHAMP/GEARS
    • Provide detailed quality review to ensure monthly reports to referring agencies regarding case status updates are accurate and in compliance with the protection of confidential information.
    • Support the team in meeting grant objectives and ensuring required funder meetings are staffed appropriately.
    • Co- facilitate inter-department meetings with Assistant Program Director to ensure cross function collaboration and communication.
    • In collaboration with the School and Justice Transformation Specialists, maintain collaborative relationships with assigned referral agency sources to monitor and control the continued flow of new program referrals and monitor effective delivery of service.
    • Gather statistical information as directed/requested, participate in internal and external audit; prepare and submit timely reports (i.e. Board meeting report, grant reports, etc.)
    • Represent CYS Restorative Justice programs in County and community meetings, and professional associations.
    • Help give intellectual leadership to our agency-wide strategies based on research in the field of Restorative Justice and the juvenile justice system.
    • Work with other members of the team to ensure successful communication and coordination with the CYS Mediation team.

    Other Duties:

    • Other duties may be assigned as dictated by business needs.

    Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

    • May require spending most of the day walking, standing, sitting, and regularly driving back and forth to off-site locations.
    • Significant periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
    • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
    • Reliable transportation required.
