Coalition/ Community Organizer

New Virginia Majority is currently seeking a Coalition/Community Organizer to support our integrated local work across Loudoun County. This position will report to the Loudoun County Program Manager.

Responsibilities: 

• Support the implementation of our strategic approach to building power in Loudoun County, Virginia
• Build strong relationships with institutional leaders and members, identify and develop leaders into clear membership roles
• Conduct timely and aggressive follow up with leads generated by field efforts including one-on-one meetings and other methods of grassroots outreach.
• Build allies and alliances with civic, labor, and religious organizations
• Create actions, training, and mobilization opportunities in order to activate members, staff, and volunteers to support voter education and issue campaigns 
• Develop the political consciousness of leaders through popular education, reflection, leadership development and developing appropriate educational materials.
• Work with core leaders to develop campaign plans, strategize, and implement plans.
• Mobilize and track engagement of members and activists at various events and field opportunities in the database.
• Support research and policy development relevant to of New Virginia Majority’s agenda
• Perform other duties as required.

• Committed to New Virginia Majority’s mission of social, racial and economic justice.
• Experience with grassroots organizing and coalition building.
• Ability to develop and maintain a variety of relationships on multiple levels.
• Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines; able to develop and move projects forward with independence and autonomy.
• Self-motivated and works well both independently and on a team.
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, manage multiple projects.
• Ability to take direction and constructive feedback.
• Driver’s license and access to a car.
• A minimum one-year commitment to the position.
• Experience organizing immigrant communities is preferred.
• Must speak English; Proficiency in one or more of the following preferable: Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, and Vietnamese.
