Long Island Crisis Center provides 24/7, free, high quality, confidential, and non-judgmental programs and services to support and empower Long Islanders at critical times in their lives.  Our highly regarded Community Education program delivers workshops to both students and professional staff in middle schools and high schools in Nassau and western Suffolk County.

Long Island Crisis Center is looking for a Community Educator who can deliver these workshops to a wide array of audiences including middle and high school students, school personnel, and parents.


Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct community education programs for middle school and high school students addressing Suicide Prevention, Mental Health, Cyber Bullying, and other topics
  2. Present workshops on Suicide Prevention and Mental Health to school personnel and parents upon request
  3. Collect statistics on services including notes on disclosures made by students and/or teachers
  4. Distribute LICC publicity materials to schools
  5. Work with Crisis Center Assistant Director on creating and distributing program evaluation
  6. Serve as contact for schools to schedule workshops

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree required. Must be a strong public speaker. Experience working withmiddle and high school students is a plus. Teaching or training experience a plus.  Background in crisis intervention counseling preferred. Must have a valid Driver’s License and a reliable car and be able to travel within Nassau and western Suffolk Counties.
