Overview of Position:

As part of the Executive Management Team, the Operations Director drives the establishment and delivery of LifeWire’s organizational and cultural strategies. The Operations Director provides leadership and management of HR, communications, equity, culture, compliance, and other operational activities.

Key Responsibilities:

HR

  • Ensure that LifeWire implements policies and procedures to reflect HR best practices, including evaluating staff compensation annually, staff onboarding and offboarding, hiring and retention.
  • Lead LifeWire’s internal culture initiatives, including racial equity goals and manage employee surveys and listening systems.
  • Foster a work environment of trust and transparency and champion LifeWire’s racial equity work and values.
  • Perform HR functions, including benefits enrollment and adjustments and resolution of escalated staff issues.

Operations and Communications

  • Provide leadership in support of agency infrastructure: oversee and strengthen organizational systems and infrastructure to improve overall operations and efficiency to support the agency.
  • Manage essential internal functions, processes and procedures, including all-employee monthly meetings, all-employee communications, facilities, data analysis and coordination of professional services for IT.
  • Support the Executive Team and work with Finance and Services Directors to evaluate and ensure timely and successful public funding submissions and reporting.
  • Develop, update, and manage policies and procedures, including those that comply with contracts and legal requirements.
  • Foster strong relationships with direct reports, co-workers, volunteers, and adjacent agencies and organizations.
  • Coordinate and manage IT assets, ensuring that all staff and residential facilities have appropriate computer and phone equipment and disposing of outdated equipment as necessary.
  • Ensure digital data security is maintained, including server management, creation of digital data filing systems, and ensuring secure remote access for employees.
  • Work collaboratively with facilities team to ensure preventative and responsive maintenance of buildings and housing units and to oversee capital improvements.
  • Supervise data collection, reporting, analysis and communication.

Team Management

  • Manage Communications and Events Specialist, Data Analyst, and IT Specialist.
  • Provide team leadership and development for direct reports.

Qualifications:

  • Five years of operations and/or management experience, non-profit experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or additional work experience may substitute for education.
  • Creative problem solving; strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills; accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued and supported to achieve the organization’s mission.
  • Proven record of collaboration and building a strong team culture within an organization.
  • Commitment to the mission and a willingness to learn the intricacies of domestic violence.
  • Ability to synthesize information from various sources and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
  • Strong verbal communicator with extensive interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to meet LifeWire background check requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver services.
  • Ability to attend work regularly, including scheduled work time outside of typical office hours for occasional Board meetings or community activities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use a computer, which includes extensive keyboarding. The employee must be able to hear and speak. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision to data enter information, write and edit documents, review contract information. 


The work involves physical movement throughout LifeWire, other offices and community facilities. Employee must frequently carry up to 15 pounds and must occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often in an office environment with moderate noise, in other office environments and occasionally outdoors (local travel by automobile) to attend meetings at various locations. Employees are often exposed to recitations of traumatic situations and must be prepared to handle secondary trauma.
