Change for Kids seeks a full-time Systems and Data Strategist to join our dynamic organization and immediately become an important part of our growing team.

Change for Kids (“CFK”) was established in 1996 to enhance the educational experience of students in high-poverty New York City schools. We invest in NYC public elementary schools in underserved communities by bringing critical resources designed to prepare students for success in middle school and beyond.  CFK partners with thirteen (and counting) exceptional schools that serve over 4,000 students in high-poverty communities.

About the Position:


The Systems and Data Strategist will manage our Salesforce CRM database and integrate it with our other systems and platforms. In addition, the Strategist will help CFK leverage various technologies to improve our systems and increase the value we provide to our partner schools.  This will require deep knowledge of varied web platforms, apps and systems. The person in this role will need to be highly tech savvy and be able to work with all CFK staff, troubleshooting issues, brainstorming solutions and implementing special projects as needed. The position provides a tremendous opportunity to gain Salesforce, data management, and fundraising expertise at a rapidly growing nonprofit organization. This role will work collaboratively with the Executive Director and other executives on a number of projects.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Database Management:

  • Serve as CFK’s Salesforce administrator, setting permissions, installing updates, and ensuring our processes meets best practice standards for nonprofits
  • Create and schedule reports as requested by CFK departments, particularly the Director of Development
  • Provide innovative database solutions to address organizational needs
  • Identify and implement new Salesforce applications to improve productivity
  • Work with CFK staff to continuously streamline data entry process
  • Input donor related data and activities as needed
  • Ensure, in conjunction with the Operations Manager, staff database adoption through training, ongoing support, and construction of a handbook for database procedures

Donor Stewardship:

  • Input donor related data and activities as needed
  • Prepare and mail or email unique donor acknowledgements tailored to campaigns, working with Development and Communications departments to automate distribution
  • Provide administrative support to the development team as requested by Director of Development
  • Support Director of Corporate Engagement and Strategy as needed

Operational & Programmatic:

  • Train staff on use of Salesforce, project management software and other systems
  • Troubleshoot and research basic technology issues identified by staff
  • Develop collaborative platforms for our network to share content and ideas

Experience and qualities required:


  • Extensive experience working with Salesforce as a developer/ administrator/ programmer
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excited about technology and its impact, keeping abreast of industry trends, learning new skills quickly and adapting to new technological developments easily
  • Able to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and excellent follow through
  • Resourceful, problem solving orientation
  • Focused on adhering to current processes while seeking to improve and create new processes
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and work under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and collaborative team-player
  • Passionate about this mission of Change for Kids

Desired qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience working in a non-profit environment
  • Experience with Drupal
