About the Director: Development and Individual Giving Lead Role. This position reports to and works hand in hand with the Executive Director to operate and steer fundraising growth and partnership development to ensure continued growth of the Diabetes Foundation’s critical programming. Important to this role is resourcefulness, problem solving skills, volunteer mobilization, communications and engagement, ability to make major “donor asks” face-to-face, multi-tasking, high level communication and discretion. Responsible for driving success in high level strategic projects related to growth of the organization and organizational initiatives to support the agency’s day-to-day activities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Build and lead, under the direction of the Executive Director, an appropriately diverse and segmented approach to annual giving program that maximizes DF’s ability to drive giving both from new prospects and DF donor database. • Develop and align plans and strategies to fulfill established annual giving fundraising targets through the effective implementation and integration of direct mail, leadership and major giving, planned giving and corporate giving. • The Director will be responsible for identifying and deploying new tools and strategies to solicit and engender philanthropic support currently not in use at DF through the above fundraising channels. • Develop strategies to upgrade donors to higher giving levels, when appropriate, in order to ultimately populate the major gifts pipeline. • Careful management of all aspects of the direct-mail programs: thematic development, budgeting and scheduling, market testing and segmentation, internal approvals, and distribution. • Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors DF’s new annual appeal program including developing and implementing written communication, e-mail, phone, letter development, database research, face-to-face visits, personal appeals

• Build corporate support of DF’s activities through sponsorship and alignment with programming.

• Create volunteer business alliance, mobilize and grow to ensure engagement with DF. Identify and cultivate volunteers to become active members of the DF Board of Trustees. • Assist with the planning and successful execution of relevant annual events. • Utilize marketing and communications expertise to manage the department's overall marketing and communications strategy. • Work in cooperation with DF staffers to ensure best practices in the supporting areas of gift processing and data. • Clearly and concisely report on revenue, engagement, and other metrics of success

• Member of leadership team.

• Oversee work of key staffers and consultants as it relates to implementation of DF’s development program

• Other duties as assigned

Core Competencies:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or proven experience in fundraising

• Track record of achieving success in stewarding and growing donor engagement

• Track record of raising funds through individuals and corporations

• Strong interpersonal, and written and oral communications skills

• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work

• Organized and self-motivated, with the ability to quickly and easily adapt to changing needs of DF

• Dedicated to mission of agency and diligent about fulfilling responsibilities

• A strategic, big picture thinker

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Spanish speaking a plus

• Ability to think independently while also being a collaborative team player

• Adept at being flexible, and able to navigate challenges

• Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate needs of the job

• Willingness to work from office and from home to accommodate needs of job
