Position Summary and Overview

The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a High School Assistant English Teacher beginning mid-August 2021 for the 2021-2022 school year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
  • Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion 
  • Work one-on-one with students who need extra help
  • Support with planning curriculum, lessons, and assignments
  • Provide administrative support in the classroom such as taking daily attendance, updating gradebook and class website
  • Work collaboratively with team members
  • Support students by 
  • Scaffolding in-class assignments, tasks and projects
  • Developing critical thinking, problem solving skills and tools to become self-advocates and productive learners
  • Assess student work and participation

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have...

  • BA Degree in an area related to English, Education or Literature (And Masters in English Education, Special Education or related field is helpful but not required)
  • Experience building positive and appropriate relationships with people
  • Familiarity with educational technology 
  • Interest in professional development in the field of education
  • Patience, flexibility, good organization skills, and a sense of humor
