Our social media coordinator will play a key role in helping National School Choice Week grow and maintain a national community of schools, organizations, and individuals who want to ensure educational opportunity for all children. This role offers a chance to connect families around the country with the information they need to access the traditional public, public charter, public magnet, online, private, or at home schooling of their choice.

The National School Choice Week team is full of positive, encouraging, can-do people, and so are tens of thousands of people who celebrate the Week annually. Since 2011, our team has worked remotely from home offices across the country. We are able to employ workers permanently located in the following states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.

This position is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position, reporting to the director of communications. Our organization offers a telecommuting benefit; this position is eligible for our full-time, work-from-home policy. This position’s hours will be Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. Because of the seasonal nature of our work, overtime may be necessary in December and January.

Responsibilities

  • Create original content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest
  • Maintain and drive organic reach of our YouTube channel
  • Identify opportunities that will drive growth and engagement across channels
  • Brainstorm and lead creative content projects such as videos, infographics, and more
  • Monitor and promptly respond to mentions, DM's, and other relevant conversations online
  • Edit and enhance photos and video content for social posts
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Minimum of one year experience managing social media accounts
  • Excellent writing skills, including a strong grasp of English grammar and AP style
  • Highly organized with ability to work independently, multi-task, and problem solve
  • Friendly and professional communication skills
  • A strong grasp on the Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, Hootsuite, and YouTube Studio.
  • A passion for analyzing and optimizing social media channels to meet engagement and growth goals.
