Position Summary:

The Telegiving Fundraising Associate will conduct outbound telemarketing calls to donors and prospects in UJA Federation’s designated calling area, working on multiple fundraising, prospecting, and engagement campaigns. The goals of these campaigns include: relaying the work and mission of the organization, soliciting pledges and credit card payments, increasing donor engagement and retention, and supporting UJA-Federation events.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Solicit pledges for the organization using appropriate telemarketing techniques, utilize data capture to update donor/prospect information (e.g., address, phone number, pledge and comment information), and disposition calls
  • Ensure that proper scripting and donation ask levels are utilized to maximize donations while minimizing pledge denials
  • Work with Supervisory Team to test scripting, ask levels, targeting, and other elements to improve overall solicitation and communication techniques and to maximize productivity
  • Conduct other types of calling for UJA Federation (inbound solicitations, collections, confirmations, surveys, welcome or thank-you calls, etc.) as necessary
  • Work with other UJA Divisions to assist with specialized fundraising and event campaigns
  • Assist in the mentoring of new callers, and assist other UJA Divisions with solicitation training and fundraising as requested
  • Refer calls to appropriate departments as needed and provide donor/prospect feedback to Management
  • Achieve fundraising goals and ensure that other objectives and metrics are met
  • Adhere to call center regulations regarding attendance, timeliness, break time, conduct, procedures, and other rules
  • Participate in trainings, meetings, and events as required
  • Maintain appropriate and necessary communication with all staff
  • Maintain familiarity with UJA mission, programs, policies, and procedures
  • Represent UJA Federation of New York organization values

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Minimum High School degree required
  • Excellent verbal, reading, and writing (communication) skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with team orientation
  • Good listening and problem solving skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Quick learner of scripts, programs and processes
  • Able to learn and use computer systems and specialized software
  • Knowledge of Jewish terminology and traditions, preferred
  • Call Center experience, preferred
