Summer Camp Positions

Camp Olmsted is located in Cornwall on Hudson, NY which is approximately 75 minutes from the George Washington Bridge. Camp Olmsted has been serving children since 1901 and currently offers residential and day summer programs for youth ages 6 to 14 years old. During our programs campers are able to enjoy a variety of fun and engaging activities such as swimming, sports, hiking, art, performances and ropes challenge course activities. These activities are designed to build campers self-esteem and enhance their social skills. Our program and facilities are accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed by the Department of Health. 

We have positions available with our camp program this summer. These positions include Counselors, Lifeguards and Activity Leaders. We seek qualified candidates who can meet the following minimum criteria - must be 18 years old and over, must have experience working with children and must be available for the entire camp season.  We prefer candidates who have some camp experience (day or overnight) and are ready to contribute to the overall advancement of the camp environment.

Our 2021 camp season starts on July 2nd and ends on August 6th. Staff must also be available for the mandatory orientation period prior to the start of camp (projected to start June 21st).

General Camp Responsibilities for all staff:

·        Serve as a role model and leader for campers and staff

·        Provide for the health and safety of all campers (and follow all camp protocols)

·        Bring creativity and enthusiasm to the camp environment

·        Ensure camper and staff care of camp property and cleanliness 

·        Attend staff orientation and pre-session staff meetings 

·        Assist in clean-up of dining hall after each meal 

·        Supervise campers during "night dorm" as scheduled 

·        Provide breaks for other counselors/activity leaders as scheduled 

·        Participate in camp closing and end of season inventory 

·        Other tasks as necessary
