Position Summary

The Outreach Coordinator (OC) reports to the Director of Development. The OC works directly with the Director of Development on the organization and implementation of communications projects, including social media posts; monthly newsletters; and family and community engagement pieces.

Responsibilities

The Outreach Coordinator’s specific role includes the following:

  • Assist the Executive Director and Director of Development in the creation of the organization’s communications goals and strategies;
  • Work with the Executive Director and Director of Development to create and implement marketing, PR, website and social media strategies to increase the organization’s exposure and awareness;
  • Play an active role on Achieve Now’s Family and Community Task Force, working closely with board members who serve on the Task Force;
  • Source, develop, and spearhead outreach initiatives for the families and communities we serve;
  • Represent Achieve Now at community events;
  • Lead information gathering session with parents and other community stakeholders;
  • Find creative ways to increase exposure and utilize the gift and talents of volunteers;
  •  Create and manage communications calendars;
  • Oversee the organization's social media pages and other communications materials, including monthly newsletters;
  • Develop clear and effective strategies, practices, and procedures for communications projects;
  • Assist with preparation of the annual report and other communications regarding organizational impact as needed; and
  • Serve for a limited number of hours per week as a reading specialist.

 Qualifications

The successful candidate must have personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for Achieve Now's mission; an unwavering commitment to quality work, and demonstrated excellence in organizational and project management, particularly in an educational non-profit; superb organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to details; highly developed communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, with the ability to represent the organization across a wide range of constituencies; demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations; exhibited comfort in a growing and evolving organization; a passion for racial equity and culturally diversity, and the ability to be a strong advocate for both; the capacity to work both independently and as part of a staff team.

B.A. or equivalent experience required, as is satisfactory background check. Experience in an educational non-profit and/ or family and community outreach initiatives strongly preferred, as is proficiency with graphic design and photo-editing programs or software. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Excel in particular) and Google GSuite a plus; experience in education, training, literacy programming, nonprofits or volunteer programs is desirable.

Salary

$35,000 - $40,000This is a full or 3/4-time exempt position. Regular hours are Monday through Friday, with periodic evening and weekend obligations.

Level of Language Proficiency
