Background

Project Angel Food’s core program provides home-delivered frozen meals to people with qualifying critical illnesses. The meals are free of charge to clients and the cost of services is underwritten in large part by the generosity of donors.

Increasingly, however, Project Angel Food is entering into new models of business, through partnerships and contracts with government bodies, insurance companies, and other partners. 

Job Summary

The Assistant Client Services Manager, Contract Programs and Initiatives is a newly created position that will report to the Client Services Manager and be responsible for all aspects of multiple contract food programs outside of Project Angel Food’s core program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Client Services Manager, all aspects of the successful implementation of multiple new contract programs, including:

  • Working with state and business representatives, including from Project Angel Food’s sister agencies, to effectively and efficiently implement terms of contracts developed by senior leadership
  • Building positive relationships with external and internal parties at all levels, ranging from executives, to social workers and health care professionals, to clients living with critical illnesses
  • Outreach to potential community partners to educate about and grow Project Angel Food programs, including occasional presentations
  • Compassionate outreach to potential Project Angel Food clients and on-boarding of eligible clients
  • Punctual, accurate, and professional processing of service orders or referrals from partners
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure day-to-day program deliverables
  • Ensuring timely and accurate compliance with all contract terms including surveys, food delivery and nutrition counseling
  • Detailed record keeping of interactions and contract status
  • Producing timely and accurate reports and invoices as required
  • Helping to develop and track metrics of program effectiveness
  • Creation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient organization and flawless operation of programs
  • Thorough, accurate, and effective follow-up and problem-solving
  • Working in a multidisciplinary environment: collaborating with other Project Angel Food departments to help facilitate grant applications and public communications, as well as other agency functions and work
  • Creative leadership in origination and development of new programs, under the direction of senior leadership at Project Angel Food, in alignment with the agency’s business objectives and in strategic response to public health needs
  • Compliance with applicable privacy and other laws
  • Other duties, as assigned

Skills and Abilities

  • Someone who is energized and motivated by, and passionate about, Project Angel Food’s mission of providing nutritious food, love, and comfort to people who are critically ill 
  • Excellent organizational skills, proven ability to manage multiple diverse programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship management skills
  • Attention to detail, ability to ensure compliance with contract terms. Ability to formulate policies and procedures for smooth program operations
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues across departments and levels
  • Both a team player and a self-starter
  • Professionalism in public speaking and presentations
  • Cultural competency with diverse, often historically disenfranchised populations and a stance of compassionate care for clients who are critically ill
  • Computer proficiency, especially in database management (Microsoft Office suite)
  • Ability to produce accurate and timely reports and invoices
  • Reliable transportation, with valid California driver’s license and proof of insurance; willingness to attend meetings throughout Los Angeles County
  • Bi-lingual fluency in Spanish and English a plus
  • Available to work occasional nights and weekends
  • Eagerness to participate in an evolving business

Experience

  • Experience in all aspects of program management, especially in non-profit or health care
  • Experience in public health care issues in Los Angeles County preferred
