The mission of Urban Alliance is to empower under-resourced youth to aspire, work and succeed through paid-internships, formal training, and mentoring. Urban Alliance provides high school students with long-term, paid internships in professional settings where each student's supervisor also serves as his/her mentor. Additionally, we provide job readiness, life-skills, and financial literacy workshops, as well as assistance with college and vocational planning. Over the last decade, Urban Alliance has served over 15,000 youth, maintained a 99% high school graduation rate, and facilitated over 75% of program alumni enrolling in college.


Urban Alliance is looking for Curriculum Writer(s) to create specialized program curricula for various program models within the organization. These positions are housed on the Curriculum Outreach Team. The Curriculum Writer will write curriculum that supports the Urban Alliance mission and vision. In addition, the Curriculum Writer will be responsible for reviewing and revising UA curriculum consistently and ensuring that it aligns with research on best practices for youth soft skills training.


Curriculum Writer Responsibilities include:


Curriculum Writer responsibilities:

·   Research and apply best practices in youth workforce development to ensure UA’s participants

are properly prepared for employment

·   Collaborate with other UA Curriculum Writer to establish norms and standard-bases learning outcomes

·   Identify and create curriculum modules, documents, and activities to support implementation of

the curriculum

·   Work to produce/complete at least 2 curriculum modules per week

·   Assists in editing, reviewing, and formatting UA curriculum modules

·   Ensure UA curriculum quality

·   Has a working knowledge of state and national content standards

·   Has some knowledge of backward design

·   Suggest innovative solutions to meet the curricular demands

·   Create differentiated and adapted versions of modules when appropriate

·   Collaborate with other members of the Curriculum Development team to ensure the development of high quality curricula and resources

·   Stay current on curriculum development strategies, trends and initiatives

·     Maintain organized tracking of progress on projects in a timely and accurate manner to

Director of Curriculum Outreach

•    Ability to work with and meet deadlines

·   Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

·   Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Google Drive and Google Docs and the ability to use technology effectively.

·   Assist with other functions and duties as assigned by Director of Curriculum Outreach


QUALIFICATIONS:


·   Bachelor’s degree required

·   3-5 years working with under-resourced youth

·   Ability to work independently and as a team player

·   Excellent written and verbal communications skills

·   High energy and passion for Urban Alliance mission and vision

·   Strong organizational skills, time management and attention to detail

·   Ability to take initiative, develop, and create engaging, relevant, age appropriate curriculum
