Smile Train is an international nonprofit headquartered in New York. Our goal is to transform the life of every person impacted by a cleft lip or palate. We train and support doctors and medical professionals to provide free, life-changing comprehensive cleft treatment to our beneficiaries. Our sustainable model has allowed us to reach 1.5 million children in 90+ countries to date and we’re just getting started. We are truly changing the world one smile at a time.

We are looking for an Associate, Community Development to join our team. The Community Development team engages supporters to raise funds and awareness for Smile Train and creates new opportunities to liaise with both individuals and community groups. The Associate will support the Community team, including the community fundraising team and Smile Train’s athletic program, Team Empower.

The Associate will report to the Director, Community and support a team of four. This is a full-time role based out of our Headquarters in New York City, starting as soon as possible. Note: Our New York team works in a hybrid environment, working from the office twice per week; the COVID-19 vaccine is required for all US-based employees, except in the event of approved medical or religious exemption.

Responsibilities

  • Support all administration associated with the Peer to Peer (P2P) platform, Donor Drive, handling support issues with internal data team and external vendor
  • Serve as first point of contact for inquiries about Getting Involved or incoming fundraisers for Community, Student, Team Empower, and Young Leadership Circle (YLC)
  • Provide support as need be for Community Programs, including assistance with in-person and virtual events, race day logistics for Team Empower, and matching gifts
  • Help to maintain select social media groups to promote camaraderie and encourage participation with Team Empower fans and followers
  • Serve as point person for Tribute donations for memorial, birthday, and the annual holiday card program
  • Lead on inventory management and supply ordering, and related invoice processing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-3 years of professional experience. Experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, or related field preferred
  • Experience writing copy and editing
  • A self-starter with project/time management skills and a high attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively as part of a team required
  • Outgoing and engaging personality
  • Comfortable with public speaking
  • Experience in event planning and/or campaign management is preferred but not required
