The Senior Accounting Specialist role is ideal for someone that likes to be involved in all aspects of the financial system of an organization. This small, but complex, work environment gives candidates the opportunity to learn and use a well-rounded complement of financial and administrative skills. The successful candidate should have initiative, professionalism, and the desire to plug in and support activities of the organization. Being well organized, efficient, and detail oriented are critical for the role. Major duties includes performing accounting and bookkeeping functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, grants and contracts, and general ledger transactions. Audits and reconciles G/L accounts. Prepares a variety of financial reports. Tracks program budgets, prepares budget and performance reports and implements budget controls. May support the Director, Finance and Administrative Services with organization financial statements, budgets, audits and tax preparations.

Bachelor’s degree with accounting coursework and at least five years of professional level experience related to and demonstrating the ability to perform the work of this position; OR a combination of education and experience that meets the knowledge, skills and abilities required. Experience working with non-profits, fund accounting, grants management and government programs highly preferred.
