The Center for Comprehensive Health Practice (CCHP) is a multi-disciplinary community health center and substance abuse program located in East Harlem New York. Accredited by CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities and supported by OASAS, the Office of Addiction and Substance Abuse Services and the National Health Services Corp, CCHP serves the most vulnerable communities in New York City.

A truly comprehensive health center that believes that the key to long lasting health is prevention. CCHP promotes health though it's many patient education services. CCHP primarily serves East Harlem and the South Bronx but patients come from all five boroughs of New York City.

We are looking for an Medical Assistant who is licensed in NY and has at least three to five years of experience. Ideal applicants will have at least 3 recent years of paid clinic/outpatient experience. Must be able to interact effectively with multidisciplinary team. High school diploma or its equivalent is required. Must be a graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program. CPR is required. The MA will assist and enhance the provision of medical services at the Center by preparing patients for examination and coordinating follow-up of medical visits.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare patients as necessary for medical exam by measuring vital signs, eye exam, audiometry EKG, and routine laboratory procedures including venipuncture and finger stick glucose/hemoglobin.
  • Assist practitioners during exam as appropriate. Monitor lab results and charts for completion.
  • Assist patients flow and service coordination in medical area, review medical history with patients unable to read or understand English.
  • Act as backup reception assist with filing of medical paperwork and orderly replacement of charts.
  • Collaborate with medical assistant staff to ensure adequate MA coverage across several patient care programs.
  • Assist MA staff in patient prep, lab work, cleaning and stocking, PPD tracking and recall, and referral input and follow up across multiple patient care programs.
  • Complete monthly clinic wide inventory and order of stock medication and immunizations.
  • Ensure monthly inspection and wasting of pharmacy samples and stock medications/biologicals.
  • Provide timely follow up of Metropolitan Hospital referral appointments to determine compliance, obtain results for MD review.
  • Maintain log of visits for all Metropolitan Hospital referrals; timely prepare visit data for quarterly Quality Assurance review.
  • Act as medical safety officer, completing biweekly safety inspection of site.
  • Preparation of report for quarterly Quality Assurance review.
  • Complete monthly inspection of emergency equipment; monthly inventory and order of crash cart medications and equipment, 02 tanks, emergency medications.
  • Monthly inspection of routine clinic equipment for good operation.
  • Collaborate with MA staff to ensure clean, tidy, and well stocked patient care areas and lab.
  • Assist with duties of other medical personnel as time permits and as instructed by Nursing Director and/or Chief Medical Officer.

Bilingual in English and Spanish desirable.
