2020-2021 Marin Extended Learning Programs

The BACR Learning Hubs strive to provide safe and engaging opportunities to young people where they can access their distance learning classes in a nurturing and academic-oriented environment. Students will learn to be productive, build positive adult and peer relationships, and will participate in meaningful academic and enrichment activities while practicing socio-emotional skills. Learning Hubs will offer in-person activities at specific school sites following the State and County Health Department guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID.

Position Title: Program Instructor

Reports To: BACR Program Coordinators

Commitment: Starting date through June 15, 2021 -Program offerings and hours might change in spring 2021

Work Days/Hours: 30 -35 hours a week. Monday- Friday. Hourly position that follows school holidays in winter and spring breaks

Schedule: Depending on school site, 7:30/8:00 am - 3:00/ 3:30 pm

Job Qualifications:

● Must have one of the following:

(A) Associate Degree or higher, or (B) 48 or more college units, or (C) pass Instructional Aide exam

● Must pass a criminal background check, TB test clearance, and COVID test.

● Must be punctual and reliable

● Must be able to work during required program offering hours and days

● Must have a working ability with computers, Google Drive, and Google Email

● Must have a working proficiency with Zoom, Google Classroom, and Google Meets (Hang Outs)

● Must have experience working with youth

● Must have a general knowledge of core elementary/middle school subjects

● Must be able to provide differentiated instructions that meet the needs of students

● Must possess group and behavioral management skills for groups of up to 14 students in person.

● Must possess a keen interest and willingness in supporting students’ learning using online platforms

● Must be able to adapt to change and learn new skills

● Must be able to work independently or as a member of a team

● Must be able to communicate in writing in a professional manner

● Must be able to communicate with the program coordinator, students, parents, community partners, and program and school staff clearly and respectfully both in person or using technology resources

● Must be confident speaking in public settings

● Must be able to promote a safe in-person environment conducive and supportive of distance learning classes

● Must maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high degree of integrity

● Must be able to handle multiple priorities and strict deadlines

Job Duties:

● Offer in-person support for students participating in distance learning by making sure students understand and complete assignments

● Lead and plan engaging, relevant, and age-appropriate academic enrichment lessons for program

participants

● Assist school teachers by providing structured academic skill practice time for students

● Give and clearly explain instructions for the assignments given online or in-person

● Give constructive feedback to students and promote Socio-Emotional Learning skill development

● Lead daily community time activities and games to promote diversity and inclusion

● Support students in developing the skills they need to be successful in school and life

● Promote a safe and positive virtual or in-person classroom environment

● Actively supervise and ensure student safety at all times during online or in-person sessions

● Communicate student academic and emotional progress to site coordinators

● Model positive and proactive attitudes, behaviors, and language during online or in-person sessions

● Communicate regularly with the coordinator to ensure consistency

● Ensure that all school space and equipment is left clean, sanitized, and organized after each activity

● Maintain appropriate, professional, and kid-friendly speech, behavior, and attire at all times

● Maintain accurate attendance records and reporting procedures as needed

● Be prepared before each lesson to make sure content is well known, and supplies are ready

● Check email daily and answer supervisor communications within 24 hours

● Attend and participate in all staff meetings and training, and complete assignments on time

● Follow all COVID school safety school protocols.

Essential Functions:

● Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds

● Ability to travel to required meetings and must have a clean driving record and insurance if using a personal vehicle

● Ability to work with Excel/Microsoft Office and Web-based programs

● Ability to perform basic administrative tasks and keep detailed records

● Ability to be punctual and reliable

● Ability to commit to the entire length of the program
