ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The mission of Early Care & Education Pathways to Success (ECEPTS) is to advance the rigorous professional development and economic well-being of the Early Care and Education (ECE) workforce so that all children can reap the full benefits of their early learning and care experiences.

ECEPTS approaches the economic and systemic conundrums facing the ECE industry through the lens of workforce development. Almost entirely female and in the majority women of color, the ECE workforce includes large numbers of recent immigrants, working mothers, and first-generation college students who face challenges and barriers to success common among non-traditional students and workers. In addressing these challenges, ECEPTS has been a trail blazer in developing Registered Apprenticeship programs that incorporate research-based supports leading to consistently high rates of program completion. But because no particular solution can solve the unyielding challenges facing the ECE industry and ECE workers, ECEPTS employs three strategies:

·       APPRENTICESHIP: ECEPTS Apprenticeships are registered, state-of-the-art, replicable models that uniquely address the professional development needs of the ECE workforce by integrating on-the-job training, coaching, no-cost college coursework, cohort learning, and increased compensation.

·       FIELD BUILDING: As a pioneer in the field, ECEPTS is committed to developing a network of Registered Apprenticeship programs that reflect state-of-the-art ECE theory and practice, prioritize equity as a key driver in program design and participant outreach, and advance the economic well-being of the ECE workforce.

·       SYSTEMS CHANGE: To bring about systemic, sustainable change, ECEPTS collaborates with a broad range of stakeholders: ECE industry leaders, workforce development organizations, colleges and universities, policy and advocacy groups, the philanthropic community, and government.

 BACKGROUND

ECEPTS is a fast-growing startup organization with a strong record of success and impact. Since its inception in 2019, ECEPTS has expanded ECE Apprenticeships statewide, provided far-reaching field building opportunities, and emerged as an influential leader in both the ECE industry and the workforce system. Rather than simply aiming to build an organization capable of designing and disseminating innovative ECE professional development programs, ECEPTS is unique in its intention and skill at building broad-based coalitions, forging relationships with those doing similar or complimentary work in ECE, higher education, and workforce development, and building a national voice to amplify and impact myriad challenges too long ignored and persistent systemic barriers too long assumed to be unsolvable.

The Executive Director (ED) of ECEPTS is also the organization’s founder. She is a strong, visionary leader and widely respected for her expertise and skills. In creating ECEPTS, her commitment has been to build an efficient organization that reflects the strengths of non-profits but avoids the common pitfalls that too often constrain an organization’s vision and impact.

By design, ECEPTS operates as a fiscally sponsored project so that staff can focus on strategic planning, fundraising, and program execution. ECEPTS’ fiscal sponsor is an independent nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that provides a legal home and core management services (e.g., financial, risk management, payroll, human resources). In addition to the ED, who is currently the only full-time staff member, the ECEPTS team is comprised of seven part-time staff and consultants who focus on project management, communications, research, systems change, organizational and fund development, and administrative support.

SALARY RANGE: $120,000-$135,000 -- DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE.
