Position Description

The Restorative Practices Coordinator is responsible for building the capacity of school site leadership through coaching, supporting and holding accountable elementary, middle and high school staff to effectively implement a continuum of restorative practices and systems.

 

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

  • Building positive relationships with school staff, administration, school support team, students, community partners, and families
  • Developing the infrastructure and strategy needed to provide Restorative Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
  • Use data to inform practices and ensure success with Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
  • Providing professional development, training, and/or presentations to build the capacity of the school site staff in the implementation of Restorative Practices.
  • Developing strategies that emphasize prevention and whole school implementation of Restorative Practices.
  • Assisting teachers with classroom management approaches that support Restorative Practices.
  • Training and coaching groups and individuals to facilitate the continuum of restorative practices including but not limited to affective statements, non-violent communication, active listening, restorative dialogue, circles (including community building, harm/conflict, re-entry, curriculum, issue/support, etc.)
  • Supporting schools in the planning, facilitating/co-facilitating as needed, and documenting restorative practices with students and staff, serving as a model for school-site staff members and developing the systemic growth of restorative practices at school sites.
  • Planning, implementing and documenting individual and small-group coaching cycles with school staff, including modeling, observation, and feedback
  • Developing relationships and collaborating with community agencies and public service organizations to provide a range of services that address the psycho-social/educational needs of students.
  • Communicating and working collaboratively with the VP of Student and Family Services and Senior Director of School Culture.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Formal training in Restorative Practices (IIRP Certification preferred)
  • Experience facilitating restorative practices and social-emotional learning  
  • Experience in cultivating school culture and student discipline supports  
  • Experience in coaching adults and leading them to achieve goals  
  • Strong facilitation and active listening skills  
  • Strong personal commitment to social justice and healing work  
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills  
  • Experience facilitating professional development   
  • 3-5 years of working in an educational or community organization setting  
  • California teaching, counseling or administrative credential highly desired 
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook  
  • Spanish fluency is preferred
