Volunteer and Events Manager (Full Time)

Curry Senior Center, a Tenderloin-based non-profit geriatric health and social services agency serving low-income adults, seeks a professional to coordinate agency's events and volunteer efforts. Curry Senior Center is a unique public/private partnership with a 46-year history of providing health, case management, substance abuse treatment, meals, community services and supportive housing, to low income and homeless older adults living in the Tenderloin and South of Market neighborhoods. 

The Volunteer and Events Coordinator will report to the Director of Development and work closely with Board-level Development Committee to manage and expand agencies volunteer program and events. The coordinator will be responsible for increasing volunteer participation in Curry programs and managing small events. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Volunteer Management - 50% 

● Lead agency staff in management of the organizations volunteer program 

● Work with other agency partners to coordinate volunteer shifts, individuals and groups 

● Promote ongoing volunteer opportunities to individuals and companies in the Bay Area community

● Manage multiple volunteer calendars on the website and shared with agency partners 

● Attend community fairs to promote volunteer program 

● Work with communications manager to steward volunteer relationships using email and social media to acknowledge volunteering 

● Ensure volunteers are entered and tracked in the organization’s database and update dashboard to reflect monthly volunteer metrics

Events - 30% 

● Manage Volunteer and Donor Appreciation Event 

● Work with consultants, staff and Communications Manager in the production of fundraising event communications and promotional materials 

● Prospect and procure raffle donations for all fundraising event 

● Staff event committee- set up meeting, prepare agenda and take meeting minute

Fund Development - 20% 

● Assist Development Director maintaining positive relations volunteers 

● Set-up and maintain in-kind donation program

● Manage holiday gift drives 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

● 2-3 years progressively responsible experience in the management of volunteers in a non-profit environment

● Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of fundraising events.

● Demonstrated experience working with nonprofit Boards, Staff and Volunteers 

● Willingness and interest to work in the Civic Center/Tenderloin on behalf of low income older adults, including the homeless 

● Strong interpersonal, listening, verbal, written communication and conflict resolution skills 

● Highly motivated self-starter able to work independently as well as part of a team 

● Excellent planning, organizational and facilitation skills 

● Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite 

● Experience in working with Donor database(s) and willingness to learn new system 

● BA/BS Degree 

● Good sense of humor and ability to contribute to a pleasant working environment 

Compensation: Salary competitive with other non-profit organizations providing similar services.
