Description

Lab Rescue LRCP is a foster-based virtual organization caring for up to 1,000 Labs and Lab mixes in the mid-Atlantic region, including Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina. Lab Rescue has grown dramatically in recent years and has further expansion underway in North Carolina. 

The Operations Manager plays a critical role in supporting and supplementing the efforts of the organization’s many dedicated volunteers. The position reports to the President and Vice President of the rescue, works in partnership with another Operations Manager, and collaborates with volunteer leaders, including spay/neuter and heartworm coordinators.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Intake

·      Supports the shelter intake, owner give up, owner give back teams by managing kennel space, and communicating veterinary information

·      Facilitates the collection of information from various sources and announces dogs in a timely manner

·      Assists with coordinating dog evaluations and transports


Veterinary Care

·      Works with designated vets to ensure that each dog gets needed care

·      Coordinates space available and use of lower cost facilities as possible

·      Responds to questions from fosters, adoption coordinators, and adopters

·      Records veterinary history, ensures each dog gets needed followup care, and obtains vet records as needed

·      Reviews invoices for accuracy


Foster Program

·      Coordinates with a team of volunteers to support the success of the foster program

·      Organizes transports to move dogs to and from foster homes and between kennels

·      Provides support and guidance to fosters about veterinary care and behavioral concerns

·      Identifies dogs who need professional training and coordinates the placements


Adoption Events

·      Works with a team of volunteers to organize and facilitate plans for adoption events

·      Works with fosters to identify which dogs will attend and arranges transportation as needed

·      Staffs events and interacts with the dogs, fosters, adopters, and adoption coordinators

·      Arranges post adoption day fosters and/or transfer back to kennels as needed


Adoptions

·      Responding to inquiries from adopters and adoption coordinators for vet records, follow-up vetting, and behavioral issues


HERE’S WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE TACKLED IN THE PAST WEEK:


·      Called a veterinary practice and asked for updates on several dogs

·      Responded to a new foster who is concerned about crating

·      Posted a message to the volunteer e-mail list asking for several transports

·      Edited and posted updates about several dogs

·      Spoken to an adoption coordinator about a possible adopter

·      Reviewed a complicated veterinary concern with others in the rescue

·      Entered information into the online database and announced a dog as available for adoption


QUALIFICATIONS:

·      A passionate commitment to animal welfare

·      A minimum of 5 years of experience, volunteer or paid, with a rescue, shelter, or veterinary practice

·      Extensive experience working with volunteers

·      A working knowledge of basic dog veterinary practices

·      A working knowledge of routine dog training and behavior management techniques

·      Comfortable working with online databases

·      Willingness to respond to a high volume of e-mails and telephone calls promptly

·      Willingness to work flexible hours and attend events in Maryland and Virginia

·      Ability to prioritize and balance changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Benefits

No health insurance is provided. This is a full-time virtual position which requires the ability to attend monthly adoption events plus other activities on occasion. Evening and weekend hours are also required.
