The Development Associate is an integral part of TLC’s fundraising and community relations team, working closely with TLC leadership as well as other staff, volunteers, and our board of directors. The Development Associate's role fosters our donor community and is vital to the success and long-term sustainability of the organization. 

Responsibilities 

Under the supervision of the Programs & Communications Director, the Development Associate will assist with a broad range of administrative, fundraising, outreach, and program activities. To be successful in this position, you should be creative yet analytical, very comfortable with ever-changing technology, have a growth mindset that demonstrates an ability to adapt and agility to​  quickly shift priorities to meet the changing needs of our work, ​and be passionate about service and community. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage development calendar and coordinate 4 – 5 development campaigns annually; assist with collection and creation of campaign content, facilitate mailing and email components 35%
  • Oversee Clinical and Service Provider Membership programs: manage applications, approvals, referral listings, and new and renewing member campaigns 30%
  • Accurate and timely processing of gifts and acknowledgment letters 10%
  • Office administrative support as needed 10%
  • Run development reports and maintain donor records in Salesforce, update the Development Team on donor activities and campaign results 5%
  • Interface with peer-to-peer fundraisers & stay apprised of social media 5%
  • Personal professional development and training 5%

Requirements:

●      Experience working in a nonprofit fundraising or communications capacity, or equivalent relevant experience as related to the job description.

●      Creative, highly organized, and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently yet collaboratively

●      Knowledge of Salesforce or similar donor CSM experience

●      Computer literate and adaptable to ever-changing donor management technology.

●      Excellent written and verbal communication skills

●      Ability to prioritize and effectively manage concurrent processes/projects

●      Must be self-motivated and high energy to work in a fast-paced environment

●      Professional appearance/demeanor and ability to handle confidential materials

●      Must be able to interact with all levels of staff, volunteers, donors, Board of Directors, constituents, and the general public

●      Passion, enthusiasm, focus, creativity, and a positive outlook 

●      Acute attention to detail 

●      Take a project from conception to completion with little supervision.

The position is based out of our Santa Cruz, CA office and the work schedule is full-time weekdays, with occasional weekend work for events. 

Salary: The salary range is $40-45k annually, and includes benefits package including fully covered medical, dental, vision for employees, and an employer-contributed retirement plan.

 Start Date: Immediately
