The Programs team brings that work to life in numerous ways. Each individual Program Officer manages a unique portfolio of projects and tasks, which may or may not overlap with other members of the team.


Reporting to the Director of Programs and in collaboration with other Program Officers and the broader Digitunity team, this new position helps design and implement cross-sector digital inclusion initiatives in alignment with Digitunity’s overall work. This position is focused on building initiatives in support of sustainable device and digital inclusion solutions that serve local communities. The incumbent will leverage Digitunity’s Digital Opportunity Network to help coordinate and co-develop comprehensive pathways to device ownership that encompass the varied elements of an effective system including supply, distribution, support and training. 


This is a full time, year-round, salaried position with outstanding benefits and an expectation of 40 hours per week, typically M-F 9 AM to 5 PM local time. Digitunity is a virtual organization, and the Program Officer is free to work in a distraction-free home office environment anywhere in the continental United States. It is expected that job duties will require occasional travel. A job in this category may involve sitting most of the time with long periods of computer work, video conferencing, and heavy phone usage.


Community Engagement and Coordination

  • Develop strong relationships with local organizations and leaders to A. ensure alignment and shared understanding of initiatives, and B. ensure that work reflects their needs and goals and maximizes their assets
  • Proactively foster and maintain relationships and partnerships with business, nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, and state/ local government and education entities
  • Manage a cohort of local project ambassadors
  • Maintain transparent, clear and regular communication with colleagues and partners through a variety of tools and channels
  • Identify and engage in opportunities and activities that support digital inclusion and exemplify community-led decision making
  • Conduct asset mapping and surveying to identify partners and interested parties with whom to engage and collaborate
  • Ensure partners’ expectations in core knowledge, communication, and execution to contribute to the success/implementation of shared goals
  • Identify and implement improvements to the processes and tools used within local organizational frameworks Conduct site visits and meetings as appropriate to inform project success

Digital Opportunity Network Member Engagement

  • Establish and maintain communication and relationships with Network members
  • Actively solicit and collect feedback from Network members on their successes, problems and outcomes; recommend solutions for future planning
  • Respond to requests for specific assistance
  • Recruit new members to the Network and provide guidance and training in the completion of their organization’s Network profile
  • Provide support for the Alliance for Technology Refurbishing and Reuse (AFTRR), a community of nonprofit technology refurbisher organizations within the broader Network

Qualifications & Skills

  • A passion for fostering digital equity across the country
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Unshakable positive, “can-do” attitude
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of career experience in community relations/development, partnership management, and program design and management
  • Comfort in co-development, design thinking, and inclusive brainstorming and project development processes and working in undefined parameters
  • Possess an entrepreneurial and growth mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to establish productive, positive and sustained relationships with diverse parties
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and problem solve when faced with potentially conflicting priorities
  • Strong team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred
  • Advanced proficiency with office tools such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Slack, and Salesforce and ability and interest in adopting new technologies to improve efficiency and performance
