We are hiring a Development  Manager

JYCA was founded 25 years ago and has survived on the love and commitment of our community. Last year we received a grant funding our first ever development position. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about our work, excited to help us create sustainable, values-aligned funding streams, and who wants to grow JYCA as an organization. 

This position is an opportunity for you to vision, grow, and run JYCA’s youth and public programs in deep collaboration with JYCA staff and youth. You will be responsible for strengthening our current programs while also dreaming of new offerings.

These are your core job responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively draft, advocate for, and implement development plans to raise vital funds for the organization in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner
  • Design and coordinate grassroots fundraising that supports the organization's budget
  • Energize, support and supervise JYCA’s youth involvement in development and fundraising efforts. Including working with them to create content, and take leadership roles in fundraising
  • Identify and cultivate prospective donors, as well as nurture and maintain existing donor relationships in collaboration with our ED
  • Develop communications needed for development work including solicitations, pitches, social media etc. in collaboration with program team and the ED
  • Manage the editorial calendar and delegate work to staff, youth and board
  • Track dates and relationships related to grants and foundation funding while supporting the ED to cultivate relationships
  • Track donations and donor relationships in NetworkForGood database and send thank you letters, follow up materials and communications to donors (or supervise youth workers to do this)
  • Plan and manage yearly fundraising campaigns, activities, and major events including our Gala, crowd-giving day, end-of-the-year giving, and more
  • Support for board fundraising and board management
  • Support JYCA operations related to finances including A/R and enrollment tracking

Priority Skills and Experiences:

  • Experience with fundraising across many scales
  • Skilled in project management and time management across multiple teams and projects
  • Excellent writing skills with strong attention to detail and organization
  • Understanding of nonprofit development and financial processes and landscapes
  • Experience coordinating large events
  • Demonstrate ability to build positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders including funders, organizers, parents, board members, and teens; Comfort navigating a variety of professional settings, including some that may not feel like your “own”
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated 
  • Strong communication skills with ability and experience talking to donors one-on-one and in front of groups of people

BONUS Skills And Experience:

  • Proven track record cultivating major donors 
  • Experience working with teens
  • Connections and networks in the Jewish, philanthropy, social justice or teen landscapes
  • Experience working with Network for Good, Salesforce or Give Lively platforms
  • Experience supporting others’ development through one on one relationships, mentoring, and advising
