The Accelerated Schools seeks a Senior Accountant to join an expanding team of professionals that are making a positive difference in the lives of TAS students and the community. The Accelerated Schools includes Accelerated Charter Elementary School, The Accelerated School and Wallis Annenberg High School.
The Accelerated Schools has an enrollment of 1,800 students with a budget in excess of $20 million dollars.
Responsibilities and Duties:
-Assists CFO in the development of accounting information necessary to complete fiscal year budgets,
and performs analysis and prepares reports evaluating causes and correction action necessary
to control budget variances.
-Prepares monthly financial reports and statements using Sage to reflect the school’s financial
position regarding income, expenses, cash flow and financial forecasts.
-Assist CFO with Federal, State and local submission of all required fiscal reports.
-Supports CFO in meeting financial deadlines set in relation to necessary monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and audit requirements.
-Maintains accurate ledgers and accounts by verifying, allocating, posting transactions, and preparing journal entries.
-Supervises Accounting Clerk on all accounting functions relating to payroll, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and grant and categorical program accounting to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
-Assists CFO with accounting for new school construction project.
-Uses various computer systems, Sage, HRS and PeopleSoft to perform accounting functions and ensure accuracy in financial record keeping.
-Prepares payroll tax deposits and quarterly payroll returns for review by CFO.
-Performs other related duties, and ad-hoc projects as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Bachelors degree in accounting with minimum 5 years accounting experience preferred.
-Experience in a school setting with knowledge of fund accounting desired.
-Thorough knowledge of accounting including principles, procedures and terminology.
-Ability to understand and apply laws, regulations and policies.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office.
-Experience with Sage and PeopleSoft desirable.
-Understand transactions utilizing accounting codes and classifications.
-Excellent writing and communication skills.
-Self motivated; work with minimal supervision.
