What is College Track?
College Track is a comprehensive college completion program that empowers students from underserved communities to graduate from college. From ninth grade through college graduation, our 10-year program removes the academic, financial, and social-emotional barriers that prevent low-income and first-generation students from earning their college degree. In 1997, we started with 25 students in East Palo Alto, and today, we have ten centers located in underserved communities across California, Colorado, Louisiana, and the D.C. Metro Area with more than 3,000 students on the path to upward social mobility.

College Track is searching for motivated, committed, and creative leaders who steadfastly believe that all students are born with the potential to graduate from college. These leaders must be devoted to working relentlessly to ensure that all CT students develop the academic and non-cognitive skills needed to succeed in high school and college. CT Tutors will be individuals who thrive on challenge and opportunity.
- Bachelor’s degree, or currently working toward degree
- Passion for and commitment to closing the achievement gap and equal educational access
- Previous experience tutoring a diverse population of underserved high school students in a relevant subject area (e.g. Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics)
- History of using data to drive decisions and improve outcomes
- Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset
- Ability to build rapport and leverage relationships with students and their families keep students engaged and productive
- Ability to respond well to feedback
- Cleared background check and TB test before start date
- Conduct small group tutoring or one-on-one sessions with high school students in math and/or science
- Tutor a minimum of 6 hours/week up to 12 hours/week Mondays-Thursdays during student programming hours from 3:30-6:00 PM. We ask for a minimum of a one academic year commitment, preferably a two-year commitment
- Instruct and model academic habits - organization, time management, self-advocacy, study habits
- Collect, analyze, and use student academic data to suggest and create program improvements
- Administrative tasks including, but not limited to, maintaining the center, monitoring technology, taking attendance, and collaborating with teachers at Jordan High School
- Attend tutor orientation prior to the start of the fall and spring semester as well as professional development and networking opportunities provided by College Track
- Meet regularly with Academic Affairs Director outside of student programming time
