Opportunity: Director, Finance

Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in Pocantico Hills, NY

For 15 years, Stone Barns Center and its restaurant partner Blue Hill have demonstrated the power of farmer-chef collaborations to inspire change in the food system. We are now poised to deepen our impact and address some of the greatest environmental, health and economic challenges of our time. We have a bold vision to catalyze an ecological food culture that supports a thriving regenerative food and farm economy.

We will build on our longstanding work at the intersection of farmers and chefs to activate critical areas with the potential for exponential impact on ecological and human health, farm viability, and other elements of thriving food systems. In service of this vision, we will reimagine how we use our Lower Hudson Valley campus to serve as the R&D lab for the ecological food culture we seek.

SBC’s Finance Department is currently seeking an experienced Director of Finance with seven or more years of financial and analysis experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be a hands-on and participative manager and will lead and develop an internal team to direct financial planning and analysis, while ensuring alignment with SBC’s mission and goals.

The Director of Finance will have broad financial experience (financial strategy, accounting, budgeting, control and reporting); will have successfully managed a finance department including audits, gathering and evaluating financial information; and can effectively make actionable recommendations to the Executive Director and key stakeholders to improve a department’s effectiveness and productivity. They will make decisions and build strategies with a data-driven and analytical mindset. They are proficient and experienced with accounting software, resource planning tools and financial systems, and are highly skilled in data management.

The Director of Finance will play a critical role in strategic decision making as SBC continues to enhance its quality programming and build capacity. This is a tremendous opportunity for a finance leader to maximize and strengthen the internal capacity of a well-respected, high-impact organization.
