Description

The Washington Institute for Near East Policy is a nonpartisan think tank focused on advancing a balanced and realistic understanding of American interests in the Middle East. We are currently looking for a fulltime Communications and Development Associate in our Washington, D.C., office.


Communications and Development Associate Responsibilities:

  • Assist in outreach to international leaders in philanthropy and foreign affairs through a variety of media, including online newsletters, publications, infographics, and event invitations.
  • Codirect the Institute’s LINK initiative for emerging policymakers.
  • Contribute to a holistic communication strategy which combines online, print, and earned media to support the institute’s mission “to advance a balanced and realistic understanding of American interests in the Middle East to promote the policies and secure them.” Institute staff members – renowned experts drawn from academia, government, intelligence, and the military – provide cutting–edge research which is widely circulated among policymakers and cited in the press.


Communications and Development Associate Requirements:

  • BA/BS in development, communications, international relations, business or related field
  • Experience with online and print design
  • Understanding of U.S. policy toward the Middle East
  • Familiarity with donor relations, marketing, and public relations from academic study or experience
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and across organizational lines
  • Self-motivated, poised, proactive, adept at multi-tasking and prioritizing work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strength at building and maintaining relationships
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Interest in the mission of the Institute and the Middle East region
