Courtney’s House is a survivor-founded, survivor-focused, trauma informed organization.

Our environment is multi-racial / multi-cultural, LGBTQQ friendly organization with a sense of humor and community. We are headquartered in DC an office located in the Prince George's County Family Justice Center. We serve DC, Maryland and Virginia.

Job Summary

Two positions available


Survivor Services for Youth in CFSA (65%-80%)

  • Contact survivors on a regular basis; weekly-monthly depending on survivor’s needs and goals
  • Work directly with Youth who are currently in DC Child and Family Services (CFSA)
  • Work with DC CFSA Case managers
  • Keep all case notes, databases, and assessments up-to-date
  • Conduct assessment of potential and confirmed survivors
  • Organize, supervise and/or lead support groups
  • Go to team meetings with DC CFSA, present at weekly CFSA meetings
  • Conduct case reviews to supervising staff


Collaboration with other parties: Government organizations (ie- USAO, CFSA, DBH, etc.) NGOs, Law enforcement (local and federal) (2-20%)

  • Build new and maintain old relationships with DC Youth Division and CFSA Absconded unit
  • Reaching out to other DMST and youth focused organizations


Training and Technical Assistance (0-5%)

  • Train service providers and first responders basic DMST 101
  • Reporting and Program Development (0-5%)
  • Complete all needed reporting numbers for grants and newsletter
  • Continue to improve and build on current Survivor Services Programs


Reporting and Program Development (0-5%)

  • Complete all needed reporting for grants; financial and programmatic
  • Continue to improve and build on current Survivor Services Programs
  • Continue to document CH’s curriculum and frameworks


Volunteer Supervision (2%-10%)

  • Supervise and guide Survivor Service volunteers and interns
  • Interview possible volunteer and intern candidates
  • Assist with reinforcing resilience and limiting secondary trauma with self and volunteers


Other

  • Must be able to work Saturdays (closed on Fridays)
  • May be asked to cover hotline, street outreach and be on-call at various times
  • Other duties as needed


Qualifications

MUST POSSESS A LMSW

  • Fluent in Spanish is a (strongly preferred)
  • Bachelor’s of Social Work; LMSW REQUIRED
  • At least 2 years of volunteer or professional experience with youth trauma survivors, youth with criminal records, youth gang associates, youth placed at risk, and/or US street youth required
  • Provided social services in DC metropolitan area strongly desired
  • Ability to assess situations and individuals quickly is necessary
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision while maintaining professional drive and focus
  • Self-discipline, ability to complete tasks and documentation on time
  • Ability to communicate directly, tactfully, and across cultural boundaries
  • Adaptable, calm and focused in routine and crisis situations on own and with many parties involved (ie- Parents, FBI, CFSA, Probation Officers, Other NPOs, Counselors, etc.)
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed for CSEC Groups and events
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite and Google Docs
  • Assess to car (non negotiable), clean driving record and willingness to travel within the DC metropolitan area
