Title: Mental Health and Medical Program Consultant

Reports to: Director of Research, Policy and Practice

Location: remote

Salary: $60-$75 per hour

Type: Part-time/hourly contract position

Position Summary

Gender Spectrum seeks a mental health professional to support initiatives to provide mental health and medical professionals with knowledge and skills to support transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive children and teens in school-based, clinical, and other care settings. The ideal candidate will have

·     a deep knowledge of the mental health field

·     knowledge and experience working with transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive young people

·     the ability to build strong relationships among diverse communities, and

·     experience in creating and delivering training modules for professionals


Key Areas of Responsibility

 ·     Manage and facilitate Gender Spectrum’s Mental Health and Medical (MHM) Advisory Group

 ·     Review Gender Spectrum’s training modules and create new modules tailored to mental and medical health professionals

·     Assist with developing professional symposia to provide basic and advanced understandings of gender with the application of principles in specific youth-related fields

 ·     Create, identify and share resources with clients and partners that address gender-related issues

 ·     Develop online programming relevant to various professional fields, both for Gender Spectrum-related events and in collaboration with partners

 ·     Perform outreach to potential partners in relevant professional areas in order to meet Gender Spectrum’s strategic objectives

 ·     Capture and communicate best practices for ongoing organizational learning and improvement and share relevant practices with clients as appropriate

 ·     Proactively understand and address the needs of our clients and partners

 ·     Engage a variety of individuals in a clear, compelling, and authentic manner

 ·     Communicate and present ideas with credibility, humility, and tact

 ·     Tailor messaging to mental health and medical audiences in writing and presentations

 ·     Foster a safe and inclusive space for conversation and mutual understanding

 ·     Integrate new perspectives and emerging understandings about gender into various aspects of training and professional duties

 ·     Learn from others and translate that learning into best practices that can be communicated both internally within the organization and externally to those we work with

 ·     Identify training vignettes and examples that are relevant to a variety of mental health and medical professions and settings, including therapeutic clinics, child welfare organizations, school and community based health centers.


The position also requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends and travel.


Experience

Required

 ·     Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in a desired field

 ·     Experience in coordinating and facilitating trainings and other professional events

 ·     Experience creating educational materials, tools and resources using a variety of platforms


Desired

 ·     Fluency in languages other than English, especially Spanish and/or Mandarin/Cantonese
