New Alternatives for Children, Inc. NAC’s on-site CHC includes Article 31 and Article 28 clinics and delivers a range of integrated interdisciplinary medical and mental health services. The hallmark of the agency is assuring quality professional and strength-based services to children and families involved in the child welfare system. To assist in achieving this mission, NAC is currently seeking a Behavior Technician who will report to the Associate Director of The Peter Haje Center for Autism and work out of the new state of the art Comprehensive Healthcare Center (CHC) located in midtown Manhattan.

The Behavior Technician will provide hands-on service delivery of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children and young adults who have autism. The Behavior Technician will collect, maintain and graph data as well as take anecdotal log notes. Service delivery will be center based, with opportunities to generalize skills in the community setting.

Description of Responsibilities:

Case Specific:

Deliver ABA therapy to a young adult, in his home between the hours of 6:00-7:30am daily. Service delivery will include, task analysis, modeling, self-recording and life skills (cooking).

General Duties:

Deliver ABA therapy to children and young adults who have autism, including but not limited to the use of, Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT), Natural Environment Teaching (NET), Reinforcement Systems, Extinction Procedures, Verbal Behavior, Task Analysis, Behavior Reduction, Adaptive Daily Living Skills Training, Vocational Skills Training and Social Skills Training

  • Collect and graph ABA program and behavioral data per session
  • Take daily descriptive log notes of each session
  • Maintain client records and program data
  • Communicate consistently with Supervising BCBA/LBA

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or related field.
  • Requires a minimum of 1 year experience working with children and/or young adults who have neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism.
  • Experience working with teenagers and young adults highly preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Requires a minimum of 6 months experience implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) preferred.
