Girls Hope of Pittsburgh is a unique, private scholarship program seeking to hire a Residential Counselor to work with the dynamic youth participating in the long-term program to expand their horizons and graduate college. The youth are promising students who want to accomplish greatness but were previously impeded by the environment around them. The part-time Overnight-Awake Residential Counselor will be scheduled to work three days a week. The part-time Overnight Residential Counselor will work from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We are also seeking a full-time candidate who will work 40 hours a week in four ten-hour shifts.
We are looking for candidates who have a clear understanding of adolescent development and experience working with middle and high school-aged children. Qualified candidates will interact easily with others, have an outgoing personality and have excellent follow-through abilities. We need strong leaders and role models - counselors who can hit the ground running and make a difference in the lives of these kids.
You and other committed staff members will:
· Create an environment of achievement by guiding our scholars in college preparation and educational excellence;
· Provide for our scholars' physical, emotional, and spiritual needs;
· teach social and independent living skills;
· help provide new opportunities and activities;
· build relationships with families and volunteers;
· model a healthy and responsible lifestyle by providing discipline, organization, and compassion.
Qualified applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have a Bachelors degree from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling, education, or a related field, and experience working with a similar population that would equal at least one-year full-time work.
