Expect Miracles Foundation is seeking an Events & Design Assistant to join its small, hardworking team. This person will assist with our six major events, lead our young professional events, and provide basic design and layout support for event materials.

Expect Miracles Foundation is a national, Boston-based nonprofit organization that provides funding for innovative cancer research as well as support to young adults who are struggling financially because of cancer. Candidates must be passionate, detail-oriented, creative, highly organized, and have a willingness to learn while wearing a few different hats within a small organization. This is a great opportunity for someone with 1 to 3 years’ office experience who is seeking a career in the non-profit sector and wants to learn more about events management. This person will work primarily with the events team and will report to the Development & Events Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the planning and implementation, including set up and break down, of Expect Miracles Foundation’s annual events, which bring anywhere from 200-600 people together and raise $1,000,000+: East Coast Golf Classic (Golf – Boston, MA), Atlantic Coast Golf Classic (Golf – New York, NY), West Coast Golf Classic (Golf – Newport Beach, CA), Wine & Spirits Event (Gala – Boston, MA), Expect Miracles in Manhattan (Gala – New York, NY), Samfund Annual Celebration (Virtual)
  • Soliciting auction items for special events, including cold-calling and proposal writing 
  • Leading our Young Financial Professionals of Expect Miracles (YPEM) groups in Boston and NYC (coordinating with leadership teams to schedule calls and meetings, and plan in-person and virtual events, and managing all aspects of YPEM events, including event site logistics, registration, fundraising, and follow up)
  • Assisting Executive Director and other colleagues as needed

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent)
  • 1 to 3 years experience in an office environment
  • Knowledge of, or willing to learn, graphic design and layout of event materials, including program books and signage
  • Outgoing, friendly, and helpful personality
  • Demonstrated passion for our cause
  • Excellent project management skills; comfortable juggling multiple projects and priorities and working long hours when needed for events
  • Ability to travel occasionally for events
  • Ability to attend occasional night and weekend meetings and events
  • Mandatory attendance at cornerstone events and young professional events
  • Terrific work ethic and a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative while collaborating within a small team
  • Excellent customer service ability
  • Experience with donor relations and stewardship
  • Aptitude for technology, including comfort both with MS Office and Mac; experience with Adobe Illustrator or similar programs for graphic layout work on event collateral and signage

Our office is conveniently located a block from South Station and is accessible by public transportation, though we are currently working remotely.
