The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) Area Program Manager will have overall responsibility for guiding the program’s participants through the SCSEP from initial intake to job placement. Job responsibilities will include: outreach/ recruitment to community partners and program candidates, intake and enrollment, skills assessment, establishing community service assignments, case management and vocational counseling, and job development. SCSEP is a Department of Labor funded workforce development program for economically disadvantaged mature workers 55yrs or older. Program participants have the opportunity to develop and enhance their work and job search skills while assigned to a variety of non-profit and governmental agencies. This position is based at the SCSEP regional office in Manchester, NH.


Experience: An appropriate candidate will have a minimum of three years of work experience in project management, supervision, familiarity with the state’s workforce development system, and employment services. Experience as a case manager, employment specialist, job developer or human resources generalist is desirable. 

Education: 4 year college degree or 3-5 years of relevant experience. 

Requirements: Must be able to build ongoing working relationships with diverse constituents and demonstrate competence in the following areas: interviewing and assessment, counseling, career development, case management, job search/ employment process, and job placement. Understanding of and sensitivity to mature (55yr+) job seekers with multiple employment barriers. Demonstrated ability to work with the regional staff team and develop ongoing relationships with workforce and business partners. Frequent travel required, access to own transportation preferred.

The ideal candidate will be mature, enthusiastic, and possess excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills; have good computer skills, including Word and Excel; and be well organized and detail oriented. S/he will be able to juggle many tasks and responsibilities, be flexible, and have a good sense of humor. S/he will also be able to work in a collaborative and professional manner with program partner/funder(s).
