The ELL manager will work closely with our Humanities and STEM teams to develop curriculum, resources and professional learning to support our school leaders and teachers in effectively serving our English-language learners. Building on our multi-year partnership with Project GLAD, the ELL manager will help train school staff on effective ELL strategies as well as support school leaders in their coaching of teachers to improve classroom implementation. The ELL manager will know the ELL requirements across our four regions (California, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Washington D.C.) and help ensure that we are compliant across all four regions. Given the focus on serving our ELLs within our Humanities block, the ELL manager will report to our Director of Humanities while working collaboratively across the organization including with our STEM team, Directors of Schools, and School Leaders.
-Collaborate in the revision and development of Humanities and STEM curricular materials in response to EL student achievement needs in grades TK-5
-Develop ongoing training, coaching, and professional development programs for school leaders and teachers to ensure each school is effectively serving its EL students
-Create & curate a library of teacher-facing supports for EL students, from sample anchor charts to videos of exemplary practices.
-Provide regular, in-person coaching and other support to school leaders as they conduct formal classroom observations, and provide feedback to teachers;
-Analyze data from network wide assessments, including interims, STEP, etc. and engage in systems based on this data to ensure leaders and teachers are effectively driving EL instruction on their campuses
-Manage communication with instructional staff and school leaders around EL student supports.
-Minimum of BS degree, MS degree or higher preferred
-Strong preference for holding a Be GLAD Certified Agency Trainer certificate
-Minimum 3 years of teaching experience with the Be GLAD Model at various grade levels
-Experience with developing integrated units and utilizing multiple content areas specifically science, history, social science, and language arts
-Must have management skills to mentor teachers with various levels of teaching experience in areas of EL & ELD.
-Experience supporting teachers to identify individual student language levels, ability levels, modalities, and target Be GLAD strategies to support those students in the identified area
